Does anyone happen to know if using a shield in your offhand has any sort of penalty without Shield talents? I know equipping a second weapon does, just looking to get some use out of my offhand.

Yes, you hit slower due to Shield Weight, i think. Shield Balance stops this.

I've unlocked Templar, Berserker, Assassin, Bard from allies just fine, but Wynne refuses to even have a dialogue option to teach me Spirit Healer. I've done her sidequest and her affection is maxed or near-maxed, but there's no option to ask her how to become a Spirit Healer. What gives? How do you get her to teach you it?

You dont need a shield if you make a mage tank. Theres alot of Shield Magic that can give -phy dmg, even Orges will be hitting you for 1 damage. Problem is you have no hate tools, unless you spec under a damage tree to keep hate.

You don't. She doesn't teach it as far as I know. Spirit Healer is obtained from one of the shops... the one in Denerim IIRC.

I could be wrong too since I'm solely going on memory and it's been a lil' while. But pretty sure that's where you get Spirit Healer.

Just remember being confused like you as to why she wouldn't teach it to me, and then just finding it being sold in a shop.

Just save the game, buy the tome, read the tome, then reload. You'll still have the class unlocked and keep your gold. I don't know if they fixed that in the most recent patch though.

yeah unlocking specializations is done per account so once you unlock it, it's permanently unlocked. you can go back to an earlier save and it is still unlocked. So you can be the bad guy and unlock Reaver and Blood Mage and go back to an earlier save and be a nice person again if you wish.

Should I pump STR and DEX into my sword+shield main? I spent the first few levels dumping a couple of points into Constitution.

STR to 44 then DEX to max, then STR again.

It is a documented memory leak issue. if load times get too long just save and restart the game.

Yeah I'm well aware of the 100 threads on the bioware tech support forums about the issue, but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for dlc for a game that's recieving dlc updates and not patches. Not to mention any new item incentive is pretty low considering you can make your own with the dragonage toolset.

Im missing the 2 dwarves tht are in your camp that sell you the rest of the blood dragon armor and the one that enchants stuff. Anyone ever here of that happening or know how i can fix it. I didnt realize it til i started another playthrough.

Friend said he beat it in about 40 minutes using his level 23 main and didn't get any worthwhile loot.

Wasn't necessarily looking to tank, just to put anything at all in my offhand. Now I'm dual-wielding, which has upped my damage even with the offhand penalties.
