I have nothing against any mormon I've ever met, but like any religious belief system they have a belief system that's prone to craziness against all odds.

for instance, did you know you could be baptized after you're dead somehow, if for some odd reason, someone wanted to baptize you by proxy?

It's true, they can even do it without your permission!

I don't know where you're getting your information from, but I've never seen any woman exploited by the LDS church. I understand that LDS church has had a history of polygamy, racial intolerance, and other such shortcomings although it's simply no longer the case. You'd also be very hard-pressed to find any sizable organization in the entire world that is free of any wrongdoing. Again, I will fully admit that some of their beliefs are strange, but the same can be said of all religions.

    What mojo said.

As a background, I was a member of the LDS church, even went to BYU and whatnot, but never did the missionary work on the ground that I personally didn't think I was a the kind of person that should be telling people how to live their life. I ended up just going through the usual phase of abandoning religion for logic that most atheist/agnostic goes through.

Anyway, the missionary isn't exactly mandatory, but the pressure is there, especially if you were born as a member. Basically at 19, most of the male would just go through the process of becoming a missionary for two years, then return and finish their school/marry in BYU.

And the baptism for the dead is supposedly done so that those who died without learning of the gospel would be able to do so in the afterlife.

The bigger mindfuck IMO is the 3 tier of heaven in afterlife, with the bottom tier being supposedly amazing enough that joseph smith had to be restrained by the angel from committing suicide when he was showed that vision.

Then again, isn't all religion fucking stupid to begin with.

I will agree to a certain point.

Other than my experiences in Japan, I've had no negative experiences with Mormons.

    So long as Zilong is here to clarify;
Someone in my family told me that he had two mormon friends that were wed while he was in college. In order to enter the temple, he said, he was asked to wear special undergarments. Is this true? It was said in earnest at the time.

Believe so, I never really got that far into the level of that priesthood (mainly because I wasn't too active in church to begin with, and my membership wasn't too clear since my record was from Indonesian branch), but all my mormon friend/roommate in BYU does wear a same type of undergarment.

I never explicitly ask them what it was, but I'd imagine it had something to do with their initiation rite into the adult priesthood. It's a ritual I didn't go through, so I can't exactly say anything about it beyond baseless assumption.

I don't really have bad experience with mormons, they're really nice bunch of people, it's just that their belief will come off as weird to outsiders. To me, most of them gives off the vibe of being too fucking nice, it's fucking creepy. To me, living in Provo felt like living in Hinamizawa, it felt really unnatural and the whole oyashiro sama thing just eventually got to me.

The whole baptism after death is the reason my dad won't give my moms grandma our family tree for her genealogy. Its kinda freaky.

I was obligated to photograph a mormon wedding once... but I wasn't allowed inside their temple in Oakland because I wasn't a member of the church. Neither was the entire groom's family who weren't allowed to witness their (recently converted) son get married. Fucking stupid. Not to mention, the weddings they have are so absurdly casual... because they probably do these things twice a week. A shirt + tie at my mormon friend's wedding felt overdressed.

534 women, kids leave polygamist ranch - Crime & courts- msnbc.com

Weren't they Mormon? I was pretty much under a rock when this story first hit, but I think they were iirc. What I am sure of though is that in order for Mormons to be recognized as a religion they had to give up polygamy, underage marriages, and having sex with girls > 18 years old.
I totally agree that this kind of stuff probably goes on in a lot of religions, it's just that some are better at hiding it. While the people of the mormonn faith which I have no issue with are ok, I disagree with what they worship. Not to the degree to go out an wear a guy fawkes mask, but enough to voice my opinion within a casual setting to anyone who wants to lend an ear.

Official Mormon teachings these days disallow polygamy. It's only practiced by a select few isolated fucking retards who couldn't give up their old vanities. *nod to the US south* It's an unfortunate past stigma and stereotype they have to deal with forever now.

Mormons are sickeningly kind people, almost to the point of annoyance. I had a close mormon friend who was totally cool/normal aside from the usual "I can't drink caffeine, and I can't leave the house on Sundays" rules shit. One day, after his mission, he started dating a mormon girl (who was basically Mormon royalty, granddaughter of the late church president) and promptly married her probably 6 months later (if that). Now he's residing in SLC amongst his bretheren and his wife's babyfactory of a vagina and I consider him a lost cause.

They are just a little beehive that keeps spewing out morally sound, but theologically retarded babies left and right.

Despite it being a different sect within the faith, this is the kind of stuff I'm getting at. A lot of religions have a pretty orthodox base and other followers that have made concessions to bend the rules. Isn't that pretty much why there's so many different religions out there?

Saw the Mormon chick today at the metro again. She basically said I was cute and wishes she could stop and talk for longer. Her group came out of the station like right behind her, and she jumped back into the herd to avoid another would be sandal smack.
I thought I cured my jungle fever, but got those "forbidden" thoughts again...

Dude you need to hit that old bitch to the floor with your shoe then while she's stunned turn round to the young chick and fuck her on the station. Or you could write you number on a piece of card and give it to the hottie so the balls in her court. You may never get the chance to fuck a mormon ever again, you cant let this one slip you by homeslice. However we are gonna need pics.
