Not much to explain really... some people think choosing SA2 is a safer bet with Yang than SA3.

Note that most of the time they aren't picking SA2 to actually use the damn thing, it's mostly for the longer meter to kinda 'stock' EX slashes, along with the fact that SA2 is actually pretty decent if they do find a good situation to use it in.

Yang's EX mantis slashes have pretty good priority and speed and do pretty good damage (especially if the opponent is crouching) and it's pretty safe damage since if you get blocked on activation if you stop before letting out all the swings you're still in a pretty good position to block or parry any counter attacks. Trades pretty well too! So EX slashes are never a bad choice.


SA3 obviously has a very small meter, can't stock ex slashes for shit... but there's a couple 'semi-unblockables' you can do, not to mention that SA3 palm alone does about the same damage as EX slashes, obviously harder to land but it's not that hard to pull off as well as having time to deal damage through combos and the like while the effect is active and you can do it almost as often as ex slashes, and there's also the fact that should you need them, you can still use EX slashes even though it'll take almost all your meter.

But anyway, looking at the 1st round there you can see he did about as much damage as 2 ex slashes using barely any more meter than one!

The "EX Slashes" are the version of his mantis slash move shown here where he flashes yellow, takes some of your super arts(SA) meter and saying SA1 SA2 or SA3 is a representation of which super arts the player chose before the match (you can only use one)

SA3 is the one the guy used in the video where he got the shadow images behind him for a short time and did extra hits.
