For those not familiar with Midgard, those are pretty much the top two JP HNM shells on our server. Their achievements in game and out of game are amazing. PB members are required to have designated meetings in Japan each month, which shows how much dedication and trust they have with one another.

So unlike some NA Endgame players that act like complete dicks because they're anonymous, these guys show another level of class in endgame. Which I'm pretty sure a lot of you can agree, we have a lot of pricks in our endgame community.

Wait, didn't a bunch of JPs complained about players when PW was first killed? Something along the lines of JPs preferring to be anon while NAs use voice chat software to communicate for better co-ordination and so on. I forgot where I read this.

its nice to see some light that people are still willing to give it a try, if anything they might actually figure out a proper method of locking his 2hr's. Hopfuly they do attempt again because as epic as it sounded, I wish I could have been their to see it for myself. and experience probably losing 20 - 40k exp lol

How can they tell a 2hr has been locked based on 1 fight?

AV cycles through 15 2hrs that occur in random order with repeat use. Assuming it only 2hrs once every 60 seconds (being generous here - it's usually more), they never wipe, a lock of a particular occurs at the instant it pops, and they mess with AV in aggro mode for about 60 minutes, that's 60 2hrs.

If you take this, the chance of going that 60 minutes, watching AV 2hr 60 times and never seeing one of the 15 2hrs is about 23% (quite high) ([14/15^60]x15). Never seeing a particular 2hr is about 1.6%, but since they don't know what they are locking with what (unless I'm missing something) which they 'lock' is a random thing.

I'm glad others are still trying, but simply saying "we didn't see it use this the whole time, we locked it!" off of 1 fight is wishful thinking unless you can repeatedly say you never saw a particular 2hr over multiple fights. Also, I know people think 1 challenge at a time, but locking Manafont probably doesn't lock Meteor - after 80% Meteor is free to use outside BLM 2hr. Also, if you completely drain AV of all MP, it will only spam Meteor as well, even at 100%. If you fought AV at its current AI but removed ALL 2hrs, you would still likely lose due to infinite Meteor use.

He won't 2 hour if he's passive. They got the 80+ people part and the during Besieged part right, they just forgot to have them all level NIN first.

Though I haven't been following AV. Every time I've personally seen him appear, he would have tons of wyvnas and always use 2hrs in groups of triple. This time he only used 3 was when he hundredfist/chainspell/manafont together and towards the very end only used hundredfist alone while some BLMs were manafonting. Invincible he used alone, something else too, forget. EDIT: I am not sure if that is worth noting. I don't how much has changed over the years.

Unlucky? More like they got what they expected. I hope they figure it out don't get me wrong, but they weren't simply "unlucky."

Yes, if you lock manafont AV will not cast meteor or comet until 79%. Once this mark is reached meteor and comet are added to its spell list, and no longer require the use of manafont to be casted. However, meteor and comet without manafont do approx 50% less damage than they do with manafont. If locked AV is possible to be killed, if not then you can't touch it after 59% as you will be floored.

What would be fantastic is if somebody who spoke fluent English and Japanese could read this and post if this is just a pat on the back "do somthing different next time" ending speech, or "great we figured (this) out, we'll try again in a month", or was this /sh text all sporadic in the 2hr time period?

It may be nothing, but knowing either way would be helpful IMO.

The only thing I can't personally translate entirely is Miyuu's messages. Someone else will have to do that one. Literally everything else is just the "Thanks" messages though.

That's... just wow. I'm sorry, but you really need to not glorify a group of players based on their nationality. There are great shells and dick shells in all nationalities.

Putting these people up on a pedestal because they are JP, or even demoralizing NA shells because they are NA, is just stupid.

Got a question. I was told AV was defeated by 18 DRKs with kraken before. Can I know if it is true? I have not seen any post on that. Just want to verify. Thank you.
