It was decent I guess, I was hoping for things besides FF14, but whatever.

that interview mostly gave me the impression that xiv is going to try and be like the all-successful wow, with the comments about casuals and appealing to everyone and solo play and changing the job system. if it's just another wow clone i'll stick with xi.
Stuff like worldwide release, beta, and F2P were obvious. Others like region play, meeting demands of casuals, and a couple others weren't blatantly obvious. If they were, there wouldn't be so much speculation or arguments. Somehow I still wonder how people thought you would be able to transfer your entire character, though.
Nothing on vs....
this, though I probably had my hopes too high.
Their KH team didn't even show up, and the release of FFVII on the PSN + an announcement for it is basically their way of saying that a remake isn't going to happen any time soon, if ever.
They gave up a lot of info about the game it seems but I didn't see anything completely groundbreaking. Disproved a lot of stuff that common sense could dictate as being impossible or improbable in the first place.
Some amazing questions and actual answers from SE for once which is a nice change for once. I hope they learned a lot of lessons from XI and make XIV the way XI should have been.
So basically as long as XIV has been in development XI has been the beta test for XIV so they could figure out wtf they're doing.
Only the coming months will tell how SE can redeem themselves and not fuck this up. Or will history repeat itself!? DUN DUN DUN
All in all that was a decent Q/A. I'm just hoping M$ doesnt buy in so it doesn't hold XIV back like the PS2 did to XI.
Kohan is a writer/works for the media no? And I think she mentioned something about attending E3. I wonder if she had anything to do w/ any of the questions...
It may clone in attitude regarding accessible content but I'm sure it will stop there. I can't wait for this to come out. At least now I won't have to force myself to like Aion....
The non-region play is one of the reasons why FFXI is so unique and popular and just looking at how FFXI has changed over the years shows SE's movement towards more casual friendly gaming. I mean, even now in FFXI I can log in and solo play for 40 minutes and make some sort of progress, so them toting that in a Q&A really doesn't tell me all that much.
But I guess it's still too soon for any actual information on gameplay and mechanics, which is what I was really hoping for. But with only a year or so until it's targeted launch, they must have some hard information they could give us.
I've been out for 5 months, but when I left, there was hardly room for solo play. Campaign? I guess if you want to grind that to 75 you can 40 minutes a day. That wasn't the type of solo play I was looking for, though.
Hell, even in Campaign you really couldn't "solo". I guess my view on solo play and yours are different, so that's where our expectations differ. The whole non-region servers was a big question because ever since FFXI, and even before that, there had always been region based servers. I wanted to know if FFXI caved in, or at least made a hybrid with some all-region servers and region-lock servers. Obviously their response answered that clearly.
Actually, the battle system question's answer was kind of shocking. Well, you WOULD expect SE to say something like that, but after showing FF13 gameplay and its battle system, I figured they might give a glimpse at how different 14 will be from 11. But alas, we were asking SE.
Edit: Ok a good solo play response is Warhammer's scenario system. I don't like to bring up WoW or WAR references, but it truly was a great way to earn XP. It ended up for me being the only way to earn it, so I really hope if FF14 turns to that route it wont be the same. I didn't want to bring it up either since it wasn't a TRUE solo event, but you can join alone or as a party at anytime when a queue was up. This sounds a lot like Campaign, except you are FORCED to participate. I'm sure you hated song botters as much as I did, which was a huge reason I hated Campaign's system. I know it changed in the future, though.
Mixed servers are great because otherwise the native language gets everything first and finds everything to be found by the time it gets to the servers that need translation.

Anyone have a link to that reporter who got Moleynewwwx to admit "Milo" was pretty much horseshit?
Apparently it works like a bot in a chat room. Breaks 4th wall if the camera picks something up or if it runs out of shit to say.
Webcams and Screensavers Moleynewwwx.
Konami's press conference is going on now. Nothing too exciting, just Metal Gear Arcade for Japan, MGSeacewalker and MGS:Rising talk. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow officially announced though, and they are talking about Saw (zzz) now.
