Have you made a companion cube? Also how much would the portal gun cost approx?

Wow, to think, an internet celebrity on BG. How did the auctions for the Portal Gun go? I haven't heard anything about them since it first popped up, and I was seriously considering a bid.
Wow, someone knows this!
Dezzimal is right. I am only making 5 copies of the Portal Gun. They have not been made yet but are in production currently. 2 are going to private collectors, one has been claimed by Valve. 2 are going up for public auction.
Of those 2, One will be auctioned through eBay, and the other will be part of Penny Arcade's "Child's Play" charity event in December.
5 is the limit, I won't make any more. As much as it would be possible for me to make a never-ending string of Portal Guns, in the end this was a present for my fiancee. Each subsequent replica would diminish the uniqueness of that piece, and therefore I'm keeping the numbers low.
I know there will be some interested parties on BG when the 2 go up for public auction, so I'll make sure to tell you all when that takes place.
Also; No, I've not built a companion cube. I don't really have plans for that either, unless someone requests one.
Should offer the portal guns at $200 a pop and I bet people would pay it! Shit is hawt.
I know I would.
Given the detail and size of the portal gun 200 bucks is theft. 1k minimum.
ding ding ding! I'm loathe to disclose the actual price of the guns without my clients' consent, but each one costs around $350 in materials alone. They also take upwards of 80 hours to construct and wire. Its not shown here, but they illuminate in both blue and orange.
I feel like we're deviating from the original topic though. If you're interested in a commission other than a Kraken Club, feel free to shoot me an email so we can discuss.
Totally serious! send me an email ([email protected]) and we can chat about it.
...hmmm... I wonder what Customs would think of this thing...
Technically they're gifts and they don't have any fixed retail price so I doubt they could charge you import tax on them. But, customs are bastards, and I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to grub as much money out of you as they could!
Sorry I don't really have much to contribute in terms of the OP, but it's such an interesting topic and your props are really good, it's no surprise you have a derail on your hands within the confines of the first page.
I love the Bioshock Big Daddy syringe, I'd love to see you make something else like a souped up pistol/shotgun/crossbow from that game, but I'm a broke ass student and have no way of comissioning something like that! Maybe that's a suggestion for something for you to try in the future!Or a full size Gravity Hammer from Halo, haha.
Oh man, the Grav Hammer. A propmaker by the handle "DogWizard" has already done a spectacular job on that particular item:

As for my other projects, I'm currently working on the following:
- Laser Rifle (Fallout 3)
- Big Daddy Suit (Bioshock)
- Hei's Daggers (Darker Than Black)
- Chell's Heelsprings (Portal)
- Guy Manuel's Helmet (Daft Punk)
All of those need to be done before the end of August, too... Its nice to be busy!
Woah that hammer is awesome!
Big Daddy suit sounds like a monumental undertaking... Would it be something that you could maybe do a specific build blog on? Detailing multiple areas of construction? (I mean, if you have the time!) It's just that I'm fascinated by prop building, and I'd be interested in seeing some of the smaller steps you take to create the final product (the devils in the detail, as they say...)
Have you had any offers from any studios to go and work as a prop maker? Your work definately seems up to par with the creations you see in movies.
Jesus Christ when will you accept new orders/pending orders? I'll pay immediately for a finished replica regardless of the wait. ;;
I'll be taking orders for 3 more clubs at the beginning of July. I'm going on vacation at the end of July and therefore will only have 3 weeks to make the clubs.
I have had a bunch of people send me PMs and emails about reserving these slots, but I'm not going to open this up until July 1st.
I don't want to take reservations 8 weeks ahead of time for these as they're just one-week projects for me while I'm waiting on other projects to dry/etc. On july 1st, i'll open this up to new reservations. First come, first served.
Do you do miniature work?
Don't have the kind of disposable income to buy one of these, but I just wanted to add another compliment to the heaps of others in this thread. These are amazing, as are all your other models.
If this isn't what you do for a living, I have ask what do you do, and why don't you do this full time...
if the replicas at least $500-1000 a pop maybe lol, for $150 a piece i doubt it'll be worth doing full time
Oh jesus. I do believe I've found my new best friend.
Seriously. I love Hei's daggers in Darker than Black. It's one of my favorite animes out there, and his choice in weaponry was interesting to say the least. If you made the mask he wore as well as the daggers, that would just be *amazing* for cosplayers out there. I'm a collector of sorts for Daggers as well. Just love 'em.
Anyway, sorry for the derail. Those K-Clubs just look absolutely outstanding. You do fantastic work.
