Seriously. I love Hei's daggers in Darker than Black. It's one of my favorite animes out there, and his choice in weaponry was interesting to say the least. If you made the mask he wore as well as the daggers, that would just be *amazing* for cosplayers out there. I'm a collector of sorts for Daggers as well. Just love 'em.

If you're interested, I made a mold of these as well so I can pull reproductions. Finished the mold last night and I'll be pulling casts out of it this evening. (Crappy cellphone pic from a few days ago of the mold master before I did the silicone and mold cast.)

I'd love to own one even though all of my friends would never understand. I can't imagine it being cheap though... any idea on potential production #s or prices?

Thanks for the compliments! Production #'s for a complete Guy Helmet will be 2. One for my client, and one for me. This thing is such a colossal amount of work and financial investment, I highly doubt anyone else will be interested in the price I'm going to quote them. That being said, I will be selling casts of the helmet and visor for other people to try their hand at, I'm just not going to go through the trouble of wiring the system and doing all the programming for them.

That answers your first question too, I suppose. Yes, they will have full illumination functions, although not as extensive as Daft Punk's "Discovery" era helmets. Those ran off external battery sources and eventually full lighting board systems altogether. Mine will be running off an Arduino logic board and four 9V batteries. There will be 10 lighting effects, and you will be able to control them as well as their speed. I think that's plenty enough for a replica... Yeah, the pic sucks, but that's because I left my camera at my other shop. Just a show to the people who sent me their deposits to let them know I'm working my arse off on these to get them to you on time! The big tan thing in the front with all the bungee cords on it is my mold, currently there's a 6th resin copy in there curing as I type this.

I ran out of resin today, so I'll have 6 when all is said and done. This does not mean i'm taking any more orders this month. I just wanted to have some spares in case something goes wrong, or at the very least I can get a head start for July.

For real, I wish SE would make decent merchandise like replica weapons instead of worthless unrelated necklaces. They would be well worth paying for.

-I'm nowhere near at fault if you decide its a swell idea to club a person or animal to death with this thing, nor am I at fault if you weild it in self-defense and it performs sub-optimally. This is a prop, nothing more, and thats what I'm selling it as.

I think that everything has probably been done at least once - a propmaker I know has already done a gorgeous replica of Lightning's sword from FFXIII - but whether someone has done the grenade launcher well is another story.

Swords with an accurate metallic shine are tricky. You can (that is, I can) employ some tricks to make it look very metallic, but the only way to get something "chrome" is with vacuum metalizing. This is what I'm doing with the gold on the Daft Punk helmet. Its very expensive. I'm lucky that my client on that project is willing to go the extra mile to ensure it looks as good as possible.

I've not pursued this as a full-time job, honestly. Right now I work in graphic design doing events production. I don't particularly like my job, but it pays the bills. The prop work is just a way to get myself some supplemental income while doing something I enjoy.
