The sadness in all this is that a relic PLD is always compared to simply a well-geared RDM tank that does not require a relic at all to tank really well. The skill factor is certainly the largest piece of the puzzle, but the fact that a RDM doesn't need to invest 100mil gil into an item to tank at the highest tier brings a tear to my eye.

PLD doesn't need a relic to tank at the highest tier either. Seriously.

It makes it a little easier, but we're wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy past the days of Aegis being a truly groundbreaking item.

There's only 2 relic PLDs I can think of offhand that I'd trust to tank over most of the non-relic holders that I know.

Yea I definitely concede that they don't need Aegis and we're way past those days, but people still seems to always be comparing Aegis PLD to RDM tank during these discussions. Just a trend I've always noticed.

Yeah, that always got on my nerves.

PLD =/= RDM. RDM =/= NIN. etc.

Never understood what the point in comparing them was when they're so different from each other.

There are parallels, but anyone who's tanked on them knows that they're so different that it's not even worth comparing.

I wasnt implying a spell interupt cap, merely and overlap in effect interupt + from interupt gear and shield blocks.

And ya, those 15% feet would beat 12 shield skill for interupt anyday, I just use the feet due to shield skill adding damage reduct in the form of blocks as well.

PLD has some -PDT as well. 10% Valhalla stuff, 10% D.Ring, 5% Jelly, and some Darksteel +1. That and the low odds of an unwanted dice roll outcome make PLD almost as much as a brick as RDM.
