the principle behind it is... a company offering more of a great game, with at least 25% more content than the original, in a delightfully timely manner, I fail to see the problem. Yes if you were expecting them to hand out free stuff it is a problem, but the principle here is that the company is a BUSINESS. An IP that does well, will continue to do well. The only morons here are all the whiny bitches who buy a game, not for what it is, but for what they demand the company to release down the road.

The disconnect here isn't that they demand it; they were promised it. If you buy a game and demand it to have constant updates like TF2, then surely you are an idiot. But if you are TOLD it will have constant updates and then instead given almost no additional content and instead told to purchase a second $50 game containing much of the original promised content, you have a right to be upset.

I'm not terribly upset about this anyways; I payed only $25 for L4D and if I buy the second one, I surely won't end up paying more than that. I got a lot of hours out of L4D (probably more than most people here) and it was definitely worth the $25 I payed for it. I don't expect any more out of it, updates at this point are only a plus for me. So I'm not against L4D2 out of principle, and would still consider purchasing it. But it does feel too soon for a full fledged sequel in this age of DLC, especially when there was good reason to expect continued updates for the game.

Doesn't it feel awesome when you make an ass out of yourself by saying people are being stupid for wanting what they were promised?

There was a more in-depth interview with FattyGabe himself where he said that they would add new levels, characters and weapons for free via DLC, but I can't find it. I'll keep searching for it though.

There probably WILL still be more updates for L4D, even with this announcement. Its just that its kind of a slap in the face to promise very specific things (new weapons, new bosses, new scenarios) and then announce a sequel that is almost entirely composed of those features. Its very much what I imagined when I thought of DLC for L4D.
