Problem with Watching Movies (No Video)

I went to watch a movie from my laptop the other day and all of a sudden it won't play correctly. No matter what I use to open it I get the audio but not the video. They worked before but not anymore. Any ideas? Thanks!

Going to need a little more information than that. What were you doing when it stopped playing correctly? What programs have you tried? Is this a file or a disc that you're trying to play?

Sounds like a codec problem. If you don't want to use codecs try VLC player. VLC media player - Open Source Multimedia Framework and Player VLC player also lets you navigate dvd's with the dvd menu as well.

It's movies I've downloaded. I recently (3-4 months ago) reformatted my computer to load up a different OS (32 bit Vista) but had success playing my videos then. The problem didn't start halfway through a movie or anything... it just won't play anymore like it was. That probably doesn't help very much. I'd be more specific if I could...

So did you watch a movie one day, then shut down your computer, then when you turned it on again, suddenly things weren't playing properly?

I'd try VLC, as Minions suggested. It's a standalone player and plays just about everything it seems.

Yeah that's pretty much what happened. I can't remember any significant event that set it off.

I DL'd VLC and it works great. Thanks for the help both of yall.
