    Hooking console into video card...

My friend has his console hooked up to his ATI video card using that svideo looking thing in between the two dvi ports I was wondering how he was doing this? (Its not fake I watched him play it using WMP Classic set to that input of the video card as the capture device). I never asked him how but I saw it with my own eyes.

The port that looks like an S-Video connector is probably what is known as a VIVO port (Video In Video Out), which, as the name suggests, supports both output and input of video.

If I'm understanding things correctly, you would have to buy a splitter cable of some sort (like the one shown in the picture in the wikipedia article) or at least some sort of cable that would support input from your console to the 9-pin VIVO port. Most of the cables I've seen so far seem to be specific to the card, so it might be difficult finding one that works for yours.

Alternatively, you could just buy a Video Capture Card and hook up video through that, then use an RCA to miniphone adapter for the sound and plug in through your sound card's line in port.

Hope this helps - I could be wrong about the VIVO cable, they might not be card specific.

It has an adapter with it but the adapter is Red Blue Green (HD) not yellow however my friend had yellow hooked into one of the Red Blue Green things directly. Either that or I saw something wrong.

If I'm reading these search results right, certain component inputs are specialized to accept both composite and component through the green channel - standard ones, however, do not.

This topic has piqued my interest. I'm using the splitter cable that came with my Radeon 4850 to connect the component out from my PS2 into the card, but now do not know how to view that output on my PC. I saw a reference to WMP classic in the OP being the program used to view the PS2 output, but can't seem to find the appropriate option there. Are there any other programs that I can use?

    VLC might do it.

I would imagine that you could just refresh and your device would show up, but I don't know for sure--I don't have the resources to try this myself.
