The Raw Story Florida county goes gaga over used video games
Florida keeps getting more and more ridiculous with its laws. I wouldn't be surprised if they started collecting thumbprints at consignment shops next.

georgia considers it a pawn too, thankfully we dont have to fingerprint people though![]()
They fingerprint people at my local gamestop in broward county. Even for bullshit $10 trades. It's annoying as hell.
i know the only real impact it has on us here is that kids cant trade stuff in, gotta have their parents come in
I don't know why this is just now on the radar, back when I was working at a GS in Tallahassee (3 years ago) we had to do it then. It isn't really anything new.
not going to lie kinda makes a little sense in a way, though over the top. My fiance way back in the day was a manager for gamestop near the mall. Like the story said, he had people coming in all the time with like 20 of the same movies to "trade in". He used to just kick them out of the store.
It would be interesting to see the statistics on how common that is, if it's common enough this could be worth it.
With more and more GS going to the strip malls (especially infront of stores like Wal-Mart) it makes sense. It was more of a PITA for my mall store though, because it was legit trades, it wasn't 4 sealed copies of the game that just came out today.
Best was when I had this guy come in and try to trade in something that was street dated the following week, 'Naw man that game is old, trust me'.
for all the bullshit that comes out of florida, this actually doesn't seem too bad. fingerprinting is a bit much but it makes sense to confirm the identity of people who sell used games. we tend not to think of gamestop as a pawn shop for stolen games but in reality, that is definitely one function it performs.
That, and ripping people off. I think you have to be 18 with an ID to trade in games in VA. They used to make you sign a release, but that was a long ass time ago.
They added more rules for the employees. We're not supposed to take in sealed games without a receipt of the purchase and of course if it's knowlingly stolen (which isn't hard to tell, just no proof other than cases slashed from a box cutter) to not take them.
