I started to tear up seeing that trailer. I'm not sure whether I was happy or troubled by the fact that my life will no longer exist come 2010 release (T_T).

As soon as I saw the Galka my face start looked like your avatar. Happy hamster is not enough to display my excitement for this.

Hmm... so we have a potential new online FF... but with the same characters and races from the old one? Fuck you SE why the hell you have to carry on with Galka?

I'm not convinced by this - if they're blatantly reusing character models then they either need to provide some form of character transfer at least partially, or stop being so lazy and get some new things to look at.
If it's PS3 only with no PC option I'm probably out - I don't like playing MMOs on TV, and I'm not buying another PS3 so we can both play. If there's a PC option at game release maybe.
If it's the same as FFXI with JP and NA getting a collossal headstart on the game - count me out as well. The whole mixed servers but some guys got 3 years head start on you thing didn't work well - I can't see JP players being happy with NOT getting that headstart though either.

I don't know - my heart's not in it to be honest and I don't have the time I once had.

Even the trailer looked kinda lazy - they used the same flipping font and format they did for WOTG... it's like they're trying to link it indelibly to FFXI - whether that's for financial or game-related reasons... I don't know. Maybe Atomos eats us all up and we end up washed up on some beach and aren't real or something... or was that FFX?

If you are still playing a 7 year old game I think the answer might be the opposite of the direction you are heading with that question.

No, I believe I'll only be playing if it comes out on PC. If they want a large userbase, they're going to HAVE to put it on PC, since I know there are a lot of people like me who refuse to buy a PS3.

Making this a revival of FFXI is ridiculous though, we already have FFXI with a ton of people playing and resubscribing every day. If they just reworked FFXI it would have been awesome. Making it so that there's a whole new online game that looks pretty much just like Vana'diel is stupid.

Your characters wont transfer, why would anyone new at that point play? A bonus for FFXI people would be nice, though. Maybe keep your furnishings? something like that.

Gonna be interesting to see the potential for a fresh online ff without the limitations of having to buy a HDD to play it or be a pc gamer. Won't touch WoW, I'm sure, but it should have a much higher peak than FFXI did.

I would be more than happy with another game similar to FFXI with a nice graphics upgrade. As someone else mentioned, what drew me to this as opposed to any other fantasy MMO was the Final Fantasy Lore. A totally new game (original idea of Rapture) would have been interesting, but FF roots run deep and that counts for quite a lot in my opinion. And for as many complaints I have had over the years, this game has kept my attention/ enjoyment on a regular basis since October, 2003 - I wouldn't have thought a game would be capable of keeping me interested for more than 2 years tops before XI.

Also, as much as I would like to have some sort of reward in the new one for all the work I did over the years in XI, I seriously doubt that would happen. Will be quite fun to start a brand new exploration of a brand new world as nothing more than a lowly toon again (Hopefully there will be better casual gameplay rewards as well... no chance I will be able to put in the kind of time I once was able to do on XI.)

If this is indeed Rapture, I'll be pissed beyond belief. I don't want to be forced into a full console purchase OFF of my 360. I bought my 360 specifically because SE was no longer pulling this exclusivity bullshit with their titles. Sony held back FFXI for YEARS because of their bullshit PS2 limitations, and now we're supposed to piss away our 360s for more of the same?

I know it sounds stupid, but I've become so attached to my Galka over the years it's a make it or break it for me.

FFXI is far past being properly fixable IMO, it's just too broken already. A reset might be the best choice at this point, I think.
