Agreed. When Phantasy Star Universe, you didn't expect them to transfer characters from Phantasy Star Online or anything. New game even with some similarities. In fact, the differences between 11/14 and PSO/PSU could be made.

Either way, I'm excited. Can someone do a little labeling on the FFXIV logo? I can't make out much in it, and I can't find the damn Samurai. D:

They dont even have to transfer. They can simply "copy" your charcters armor, skills, etc onto a new charcter on FFXIV.

Yeah, that is definatly Galka facial features, but no tail? Perhaps some sort of evolution of sort?

Also, considering the term of Rapture used. Consider if, by some means the heroes from Vana'diel are sent to this new realm. Could this hint of maybe character transfer from XI to XIV? Could it also be why their stretching WotG out so far, to maybe coincide with this event?

They dont even have to transfer. They can simply "copy" your charcters armor, skills, etc onto a new charcter on FFXIV.

Never happened on any other subscription-based MMO. People just need to learn that you're going to start fresh, and that's that. It's been that way since always.

Yeah I was thinking that, but actually, I think it is more an inside joke from SE because, upon FFXIV's release, everyone will simply vanish off the FFXI servers (aka Rapture).

As I just told a friend in IM's...I've spent far too much of my life enjoying FF games for any resolve about quitting FFXI stop me from trying another. I'm super excited for this, I hope I can get into beta.

I don't consider it overreacting, it's a pretty huge announcement. FFXIV being online is huge, the environment and style seems like a very welcome return to more traditional FF motifs (screw Cocoon to hell), and I don't really think a lot of people were expecting this announcement at all. if you're not excited that's fine, but don't shit on everyone else's parade if they think it's big news.
