    steam download problem?

I just installed steam a couple of weeks ago, and am trying to download a game on there (yes, I'm a bit behind the times on this one).

The problem that I am having is that my download starts off a a decent clip (~50kbps) and drops off after about 10 minutes (to about 10kbps). I'm using a DSL connection, so I know it's not very fast anyway, but why would it be dropping off, and what can I do to remedy this? Are there specific ports to open on hardware firewalls?

Set your region in settings to the appropriate area. This usually fixes this problems. If all else fails, make sure firewalls/port blockers/etc. are turned off.

Well I checked to make sure that I was in the right zone, and it was.

It seems like it trucks along for a while, but then it just stops. Firewall is setup to allow steam and steam downloads, so I'm a little lost. Might have to call tech support I suppose.
