IKSSE and Good Apollo I are my two favorites, in that order. I loved YotBR... if I had to pick my least favorite album it would be NWFT.

I know man. Coheed is one of the few bands where I have actually loved everything they have ever done, and even ranging outside to the Amory Wars and Prize Fighter Inferno. Coheed fans are different than those of other bands too. When I saw SSTB Neverender... Let's just put it this way. Don't think I will ever come close to the energy me and my brother felt from everyone collectively screaming "Oh dear god, I don't feel alive!" during Delirium Trigger from any other band.

The boston show of SSTB:Neverender wasn't that lively, but I was also as far back as you could go, and by the time it got to the song Neverender the guys in front of us were so fucking drunk and yelling "Point your gun in another direction"

After listening to some of the recordings from Dallas, it's obvious that he was way more on his game for that show.

However, I love that there are tons of lines in the songs that are meant for the crowd to sing.

    Claudio: Wait for..
Crowd:Everything evil in you comes out

    Claudio: Blood hungry,
    Crowd: Cannibalistic unfit family ties!
Claudio: In a series of knocks
Crowd: To the young girl's head side

    love it!

The Annual New York Comic-Con just blew through town and Radio.com was on the scene. We had a chance to wander the floor, see the sights, visit the booths, witness the panels and get the full experience. We even scored an exclusive interview with Claudio Sanchez, frontman for Coheed and Cambria and creator of Evil Ink publishing. Click through to see what is in store for the band, his other current projects and everything else that surrounds world of The Amory Wars.
Claudio has spent considerable time developing the epic alternate universe pertaining to his story arc: The Amory Wars, (a.k.a. The Bag.On.Line Adventures,) which unfolds a intertwining tale of science-fictional prophetic political uprising. We as readers and fans of the band follow along with our protagonists: Coheed, Cambria & Claudio Kilgannon as they try to save Heaven’s Fence & the Keywork from the evil Key-mage, Wilhelm Ryan. Each album released by the band operatically depicts a separate chapter from this storyline, coming together to form some of today’s finest progressive rock. Furthermore, each album corresponds with a book series published by Claudio’s company, Evil Ink Comics.
Radio.com: Now that we have heard & read the tales of The Second Stage Turbine Blade; In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth Three; The grand finale of Good Apollo I’m Burning Star Four; and come full circle with the most recent (prequel) The Year of the Black Rainbow…what is the future of Coheed and Cambria now that the saga is ‘complete’?
Claudio Sanchez: ”Well, the record is written, and we are recording in November. We will be staying within the world of the Amory Wars and go further into the past. Fans should be excited WHO of the characters we have picked to follow in this prequel saga [but no specific spoilers YET!]) … I will say that it will hint & influence the pre-existing saga, and that it is all related.”
Radio.com: Was this all preconceived while conjuring the origin of Coheed and Cambria while writing in Paris?
Claudio Sanchez: “This is all new. When I created the idea in Paris it was designed to be a trilogy and end with ‘In Keeping Secrets,‘ but when i created it there was no definitive conclusion to the overall saga so thats why I came up with the ‘Good Apollo 1&2‘ stories… but I always knew that I would tell a prequel/origin story to Coheed and Cambria but as far as how I am going to do it & who I’ve chosen, this is all very new. And now I’m starting to plot out things for the future that will continue it.Radio.com: What sort of validity have you found in the theories pertaining to the story/philosophy as concocted by the fans on the forum at fansite: Cobalt & Calcium… how accurate have they been in the past?Claudio Sanchez: ”It’s been a while since I’ve read but back in the day it was interesting to me to see what some of their interpretations were even if they missed the mark… it was fun to see the excitement. Every once in a while I will peek on there but for the most part there is so much to go through that I don’t want that in any way to affect what I’m doing at the moment. It’s very easy to go “oh yeah, well… they’re kind of missing the mark but…” I go in to see what people think but I try to avoid the theories.”
Radio.com: Most recently, you created a song for the video game, Batman: Arkham City. Do you have any thoughts on continuing to write thematic music based on other peoples concepts? Would you do what you did for Batman for someone else?

Claudio Sanchez: “Oh yeah of course, I’ve done it in the past. Transformers, Ghost Rider… if more opportunities like that would come along I would jump on it because its a lot of fun. Certainly this, as opposed to The Amory Wars which has a concept but is very much ME .. my inner psychosis spilled over albums & comic books. With something like Batman I get to explore the mythology more and draw from that. I would love to see more of that come my way.”

Radio.com: Any specifics in mind you would wish for?

Claudio Sanchez: ”Green Lantern for one, … but really whatever would come my way.”

Check out the rest of our interview with Claudio about Batman: Arkham City with the full review HERE

Radio.com: Tell us how you also recently signed up to cover ZZ Top‘s Beer “Drinkers & Hell Raisers” on the recent A Tribute From Friends album

Claudio Sanchez: “Management played a big part in getting the band on the tribute record and Coheed’s guitarist, Travis, really took the reigns on that song. He picked the song, started putting it all together and then when we all got in studio I tweaked the arrangement a little bit … like the whole operatic section at the end of the song, and added little things here and there to kind of make it our own. In the mean time we did just want it to be a bare bones rock song to play off ZZ Top but we did need to ‘Coheed’ it up a bit.”

    Evil Ink & NYCC 2011…
Radio.com: As far as Evil Ink goes… you have a brand new project on the table called The Key of Z… whats happening there?

Claudio Sanchez: ”It’s a zombie apocalypse tale that takes place in Manhattan. All of the colonies that exist around New York, Yankee Stadium; Citi Field; Madison Square Garden; …They’ve all been colonized and the factions inside them are now warring for territorial control of Manhattan island. It’s actually basically a revenge story.”

Radio.com: Will there be more books from Evil Ink in the near future?

Claudio Sanchez: “Right now that is a 4 issue mini series, and I’m working on doing an adaptation of the Second Stage Turbine Blade with writer, Peter David. Chonny [his wife Chondra] and I have been scripting a Kill Audio sequel and also I have my tentative first superhero story thats kind of in the wings. Just last night my manager, Blaze and I brought up the possibility of doing another Coheed series with the new album.”

Radio.com: Speaking of Kill Audio, what’s the deal with the sexually charged rooster!?

Claudio Sanchez: ”You mean Chicken Coke Daddy?! Um… he’s loosely based on a friend I grew up with… he’s not really like Chicken Coke Daddy… it’s obviously an exaggerated version of this guy …umm but you know, he just likes to party!”

    "hidden" message on coheedandcambria.com
"MAY THE PAST LAY FOUNDATION FOR A BRAND NEW START."
    earlier it apparently said
"IN THE END,WE EMBRACE OUR MISTAKES."
so that, combined with someone in a mask playing that tune on the piano is making a lot of people think Josh is rejoining the band. Chris Pennie quit as drummer so the spot is open, and Josh apparently wrote that tune from ring in return/other songs, so I can certainly see it as a valid possibility

COHEED AND CAMBRIA REUNITE WITH DRUMMER JOSH EPPARD
ENTER STUDIO TO RECORD SIXTH ALBUM

    November 16, 2011.

    Hello everybody,

We didn’t originally plan to make a big splash about this, but when Chris made his announcement, we were ultimately compelled to. We didn’t want anyone to be concerned about the state of the band, and trying to keep things quiet was proving to be really tough. And besides, we're just really excited and wanted to share that feeling with you.

Chris Pennie is a dear friend, a superb band-mate and one of the best drummers in the world. He brought a workmanship and sense of professionalism to Coheed that completely improved us as a band, and allowed us to reach new heights. He will always be a member of the Coheed family, and we ask you to support all his endeavors.

As the songs for the new record began twisting into shape, it slowly became apparent that these songs were very dynamic, and could truly flourish with the groove-oriented approach that Josh naturally brings to the table. We also missed Josh as a person -what he meant to us as friends and the energy and humor he exudes. But this isn’t about nostalgia; it’s about who we are now, and what we can achieve musically and as a family, together going forward.

We understand there are risks involved bringing Josh back into the fray. Even with his two-years of sobriety, this is a giant leap of faith on our part. But at the end of the day, we have all grown up, and we have all been through so much, that playing with Josh again is sort of like coming home. It's comfortable, it's familiar, it just feels right… it’s hand in glove.

Last week, we entered Applehead Studios with Michael Birnbaum and Chris Bittner to begin work on our sixth studio album. We’re three songs in, can’t wait to share it.

Thank you for your continued, unwavering support.

    Coheed and Cambria
