What did this RMT do to me?

So I'm in my spot where I chill in whitegate when there's nothing going on, and out of the blue one of the thousands of RMT that inhabit Whitegate walks up to me and trades me.

So I accepted and was like "what the hell is this"? About 10 seconds later I get a POL error and am kicked back to character selection screen. I immediately changed my POL password and then tried logging in again, and as soon as I got to the ... downloading data ... screen I crashed (not POL error this time, FFXI just crashed instantly which has never happened before). My account seems fine now, but what the hell is this? Has anyone else had this happen? In hindsight it obviously wasn't a smart thing to accept a trade from someone I knew was RMT, but I had absolutely no idea they could do anything to me like that.

I see a ton of them running to the NPC in Bastok Mines and running back to trade one of 3-4 other people they have standing there, like we all know about, I keep trying to trade a bunch of them for lulz, guess I should stop doing that.

It wasn't an R0 disconnect, it wasn't Windower crashing as it's been proned to do, it was just an instant POL error that popped up, the one saying to check ethernet cables etc, 3104 or something? Right before I d/c'd he said something, let me find it in my logs.

Him saying whatever that is that he said, is the last thing in the log before d/cing and I'm almost certain that it was literally within a second that the POL error popped up because I didn't even have time to read it, just enough time to see there was purple text.

3104 or something?

Well, I know 3001 is firewall/port failure and can cause that error (have had it happen too much in the past since my firewall kicks on at 5am when I should be sleeping).

Anything 3000-3115 is network related only iirc. @ 3116+ errors in FFXI = character based errors at login/etc.

I think 3104 may have been the one I got when I tried to login the third time and it was telling me that I was already logged in (from FFXI crashing).

x_x talk to square enix and tell them? maybe they can go into your character and remove the item and hope it fixes it. but seriously that's fucking scary that one of the games most useless items can do this.

On a serious note thats all I can guess, get this shit sent to SE asap imo. Bug report/GM call/Call POL during business etc.

I can login fine now, well, not right now since maint, but I did login before maint and did ballista for a few mins just to sort-of confirm that my character wasn't taken over by China. I threw the item away as soon as I logged in, but I don't know if any damage has been done, any credentials leaked or anything. Sort of paranoid since I've been putting a ridiculous amount of effort into this character since I've returned to FFXI.

It was always fun to say cao ni ma to the RMT in sky back in the day XD. They'd freak out at you spamming that stuff if you slapped them or something during Despot/Ulli camping.

I'm thinking it was something to do with Windower since I've traded RMT before and nothing happened (except I got a bunch of chocobo crap to NPC/Sell).

The items they seem to trade between each other are chocobo greens and crystals. Nothing major, but some of the greens NPC for about 250g each.

Maybe they've gotten fed up with us evil players standing in amonst the people they are supposed to be trading their gil to in Bastok Mines/Port Sandy/uh... fuck WIndurst, it's too big... now they're defending themselves by crashing anybody who accidentally gets something of theirs. Could be their own windower client has some sort of app that doesn't crash them on trade.

Who am I kidding? It's likely that one of them is smart enough to dick with people like this. I mean, of all the RMT in those sweatshops, you'd think more than a few have educated themselves enough to do stuff like this.
