Both strikeforce and WEC have cards this weekend and they are both very good. Since UFC 99 is just one week later I figured I would just make it now.
STRIKEFORCE This saturday June 6 at 7pm pacific. Catch a online stream if you don't get Showtime.
Catchweight 182lb bout: Robbie Lawler vs. Jake Shields
Heavyweight bout: Andrei Arlovski vs. Brett Rogers
Catchweight 179lb bout: Nick Diaz vs. Scott Smith
Welterweight bout: Phil Baroni vs. Joe Riggs
Light Heavyweight Bout: Kevin Randleman vs. Mike Whitehead
Undercard fight worth checking out
Light Heavyweight bout: Rafael Cavalcante vs Mike Kyle
I hope Robbie destroys Jake, I really don't like him and he needs to be humbled. Arlovski should win as long as he doesn't get touched on that chin of his. Diaz always makes a good fight and with someone who can take a ton of shots in Smith it will be interesting if Diaz goes for a submission or drops 100 strikes a second onto Smith and eventually tko's him. Randleman fight will probably be boring, likely just a wrestling match. Baroni v riggs should be a fun brawl (or at least for the first round as Riggs may go to the ground) but not really all that interesting outside of that. Cavalcante is an exciting up and comer.
WEC 41 This sunday at 6pm pacific on Versus network or your favourite online stream.
Featherweight Championship bout: Mike Brown vs. Urijah Faber
Featherweight bout: Jose Aldo vs. Cub Swanson
Lightweight bout: Donald Cerrone vs. James Krause
Featherweight bout: Jens Pulver vs. Josh Grispi
Really excited for the main event, I see Brown winning this fight more often than not. I think Faber has to move in and out really quickly and I see him sooner or later getting hit with something big and being in trouble. Aldo has been wrecking people like crazy and is awesome to watch. Cerrone usually brings an all action kind of fight. Pulver just isn't there anymore and even though I know next to nothing about Grispi I just see him eventually winning.
UFC 99 June 13 at 12pm pacific (it's in germany so that is why it is so early). This is a PPV so catch a stream if you can't see it otherwise.
Catchweight (195 lb) bout: Rich Franklin vs. Wanderlei Silva
Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Cain Velasquez
Welterweight bout: Mike Swick vs. Ben Saunders
Welterweight bout: Marcus Davis vs. Dan Hardy
Lightweight bout: Spencer Fisher vs. Caol Uno
Heavyweight bout: Mostapha Al-turk vs. Mirko Cro Cop Filipović
Preliminary card
Lightweight bout: Terry Etim vs. Justin Buchholz
Lightweight bout: Dennis Siver vs. Dale Hartt
Welterweight bout: Paul Taylor vs. Peter Sobotta
Lightweight bout: Paul Kelly vs. Rolando Delgado
Heavyweight bout: Denis Stojnic vs. Stefan Struve
Welterweight bout: John Hathaway vs. Rick Story
I really really really want to see Wanderlei win but Rich can strike rather well and Wands chin hasn't been the best as of late. Cain is having the hardest fight of his career but I really like this guy and think he can be really really good. He should be able to hang in the standup and can just wrestle Cheick down if things don't go well in the standup. Davis v hardy is a good grudge/hate fight and I see Davis getting some form of tko. Swick v saunders should be exciting but I'm really excited to see if Cro Cop is back in some form or other. Hope to see Turk's head fly into the stands by a nice head kick.
