Demo was fun but it's just the same segments we've seen a million times before, although I'm sure most people assumed it would be. The tutorial-ish fight with all the Lycanthropes and then a fight with a Warg. Then the horseback section with another Warg fight at the end.
Battle system isn't particualarly impressive, but it looks like there's gonna be quite a lot of unlockable moves, subweapons even have unlockable shit (dagger has one where you can hold to throw multiple daggers at once). Camera seemed a little annoying but none of the enemies attacked whilst off screen from what I saw, hopefully it's like DMC in that aspect where you don't get dicked over by off screen stuff. Also the slowdown when you hit stuff feels really disorienting, but I'm sure it'll be easy to get used to. Enemies did quite a lot of damage on the 3rd difficulty, it showed 4 options but the highest (Paladin) was locked, so should be good in terms of difficulty when that's open (hopefully it's not HURR BEAT THE GAME TO UNLOCK).
yeah I thought it was fun, but didn't really strike me as being much more refined than the combat in dante's inferno. The one thing I will say is that the voice acting is great and they seem to have done a great job crafting the world in which the game takes place. I'm a sucker for pantheons of mythical creatures, and supposedly the game is like 20 hours with lots of collectibles/upgrades so that makes me kinda want to get it still.
I was trying to decide between castlevania and enslaved but I'll probably end up getting both, I guess, but neither one strikes me as the kind of thing I usually go and get on day 1.
I think the low-scoring reviews are pretty ridiculous. If you read those, you know some people shouldn't be reviewing games.
Why is it bad when games borrow elements from other games? Even if they are big ones?
Stupidest things to mark games down for. I have a hard time believing these reviews were unbiased. I want to hear how good THIS game is, not what it is compared to every other game of the same genre. I will make that connection on my own if it exists.
I hate when games are called "clones" of another game. Really the only game I would call a complete copy is Quantum Theory becasue it feels exactly like Gears of War.
Except really, REALLY bad. That's a game that I played the demo and thought " I actually *hate* this game" lol
"Clone" is a bullshit term for reviewing games. Almost everything is from something else and should not be judged as a ripoff unless it's straight up copying.
gamepro, a famous german game mag gave it 88/100. they mentioned right at the begin that it borrows from some other games, but not in a bad way. their listed cons are: partially bad camera, some stuttering, repetitive but good music, controls sometimes not intuitive and the mini games are rather disappointing. here is the video review, for those who understand german or just don't care: http://www.gamepro.de/index.cfm?pid=386&pk=2894
IGN/Gamespot so far gave it the lowest score of 7.5, everywhere else so far that I've seen have given it 8+.
Game looks great, and it's long to boot, so that's a bonus for mileage for my for money. Probably going to wait on it though thanks to a couple other games coming out on PS3 that have priority over this for me, but it's something I want to play eventually. My only worry is the combat possibly getting repetitive throughout the game (especially with its length), but I'll find that out when I play it for myself.
I find it funny how IGN complains about the repetitive combat but gives Dynasty Warriors 4 a higher score. I learned not to care to much about reviews from them, although they are on point some times. I guess any new Castlevania is always gonna be compared to SOTN, and I highly doubt they will ever replicate that experience, ever. And bashing on games for lack of originality is all the negative nancy reviewers always go to. I doubt any real Castlevania fan would mind the change of pace. It looks good to me.

Thanks but, how do you delete a PSN account? >.> Unless he mean on your PS3 only.
I havent had much time to look, but most places seem to be reviewing the 360 version, is there any clarification on which version is better?

I thought the demo was on PSN+ in EU?
^ GamespotIt's also worth noting that while the PlayStation 3 version maintains a steady frame rate, the Xbox 360 version occasionally hiccups during action sequences and cutscenes.
IGN 360

A beautiful, richly detailed world that suffers just a bit from drops in framerate.
IGN PS3
9.0

It's also "interesting" that they did not boost the PS3's final score even with the .5 higher in graphics.

Oh, time to make me an account then.
Just went through the demo. It's a short demo but gives you a pretty good idea on the combat system. It's nothing anyone hasn't seen before, it obviously opens up a bit more later on in the game so curious to see how that turns out. Exploration and the plot is what I'm really looking forward to.
Yeah, I love these types of games (with the except of Dante's inferno, fuck that game) so I'm really looking forward to this after playing the demo. The fact that its more open than these games usually are makes it even better. I'm expecting it to be more in the vein of Darksiders than God of War.
I'll let you guys know how it is. Sorry for the crappy pic. :D
