So I've played through several stages (maybe 6 or 7?) and it just keeps getting better. In most games, I really don't care about purchasing combos (Bayonetta), but the ones you buy in this feel really cool and mix things up. I don't know how consistently I will be buying and using them, but so far I have.
The platforming is starting to ramp up, seems to be from around chapter 2 onward. It's a little hard in the beginning because you're not used to what they want you to grab onto and such, but you get used to it.
Once you unlock magic, you start incorporating strategy into your game plan, and everything gets a lot more fun, imo. Health is pretty scarce, and light magic allows you to heal yourself when attacks connect. The catch is that enemies won't drop more magic for you to absorb while you're in light mode.
The production value is evidently very high. The voice acting is very good, I really don't understand people saying it's cheesy. A thousand years ago, I'm sure people talked a lot more like this than they do now. Also, Patrick Stewart is awesome.
I'm not a big GoW fan and I am a big Castlevania fan, so take from this what you will but LoS > GoW so far anyway.
Like I saw someone say about this game before: It's not so much about fighting 50 enemies at a time, but more about a few tough enemies that you have to be more strategic around. Honestly feels like a little GoW, Bayonetta, DMC, Shadow of the Colossus, and maybe some Uncharted climbing.
If you have questions, shoot.
