DRG/RDM is better for me. Faster spells and you can use then outside battle (Only Cocoon for /BLU). After a while, you learn to anticipate attacks and develop techniques for healing more effectively. What's nice about DRG healer is that you aren't reliant on MP. However, there is no haste when you do this. Essentially, it's DD + Cheap cures v Haste. The cheap cures allow for your melees to take full advantage of their melee capabilities without worrying about burning MP. The only time they need to keep defenses is during mamools. This is especially the case with MNKs who want to utilize all their JAs as /WAR. If they have high HP (Or an HP set), they can easily take hits without a problem.
I second this entirely. If you're partying with a halfway intelligent MNK, you can usually get them to swap into +HP when they're near 50% HP to get HB off sooner....MNKs who want to utilize all their JAs as /WAR. If they have high HP (Or an HP set), they can easily take hits without a problem.
Once I had a JP MNK that did it without me having to ask, I wish I asked her to marry me, but she disappeared...
You'd have to ask me. I'm not gonna gimp my DD waiting around for you to HB. I won't swap unless I know you're ready.
but counterstance is an amazing JA for /nin tanking too. Also when I /nin I try to not use utsusemi until a certain % of my HP. Need to make those JP rdms use their goddamn MP lol. they use convert once every hour or so...
Only time I was allowed to sub war on MNK was in a "healing breath" merit pt, dont ask me lol.
I see many heal breath pt shouts from JP, who are seeking one or two MNK/WAR as tanks lol. it's fun.
hello I sub X job but dont use what it gives to me more than half the time
how often do you go under "cast utsu" HP mark on mnk/nin in a good meripo? (I'm not mnk75)
The reason why a MNK wouldn't want to spam Utsu with Counterstance up, is that they're gaining extra hits/damage on the mob for every hit countered. As long as they're safe from death/1-shot (ie: Above X% HP), there's no reason not to get free hits directed back at an enemy. The exception to this being camps like MJSP pulling Skoffins, as Fang Rush can 1-shot a Counterstanced MNK with no shadows up.
And with a 65%~ counter rate, you add a surprising amount of damage before your HP starts to drop off (Assuming you have the Acc to land your counters).
Dude, Joy/Justice and my Atonement Idle gear and I can totally almost kinda sorta convince some people that I'm a swordchucking WAR with no Bergressor macro. Almost.
The reason I figured /BLU is because Power Attack & Foot Kick are IMO the *best* triggers for HB. They won't hit very hard but they are only 5 MP and are super quick to cast and Colibri don't "reflect" blue magic.
Plus, spells like Head Butt and Wild Oats can still take effect (stun, vit down) even if the damage is gimped from lack of blue magic skill.
DRGs can only cure you when you hit 50% HP or less, so if you use the HP gear, they'll heal you as soon as they see your HP hit orange.
Barspells are 6MP. They also share separate recast timers so you can spam them without penalty. Moreover, sub BLU only has the option of curing between battles using Cocoon. A known glitch is that whenever you pet is midhealing when he disengages from a mob, he will cancel the cure. That's why it's important to have spells ready for use between battle. Cocoon is actually *bad* for DRG healers using Ethereal Earring. More DMG to us means more MP recovered (Hence why I tend to not use DEF buffs).
are you really suggesting using counterstance /nin without shadows as opposed to /war?
the defense difference is fucking nothing, counterstance floors your shit anyway
not sure if you're asking me or pchan but I just do ni when i can and ignore ichi cause nobody lets me sub war anyways. If it was a matter of choice, you bet your ass I'd be going /war
i was talking to pchan, i always force mnks to /war in my parties ._.;
