Yea i think its because the initial damage, though sometimes bind doesnt break when bio/nuke's are delivered but thats rare.

As bit of a side note: I use Shadow Cuffs for Bind / Gravity. Since its up to debate as to the effect INT, Enfeebling Magic and MAcc have on them, I've found Shadow Cuffs to be a great mix. 5 INT and 3 MAcc has been extremely reliable since I started using them.

Uh.. dia and bio will always break bind; nukes for damage will not, however; so comparing the initial damage from the two would not be fair because they are obviously functioning two different ways.

Also, binding low level mobs, like the eles in sky that I solo for tabs you can see quite easily that bind will not always break and if you'd like to test, you can bio and/or dia bound mobs a million times and it will always break it with the 1-30 initial damage where as the nukes for 600 wont.

I always just thought it was SE's way of not letting you bind and keep bio on mobs to solo back when bind never broke.. but that's pretty silly now that I think about it.

I think they said when Dia/Bio do NO initial DMG, that bind won't break.

Yeah, I know. But rog said that any amount of damage between 1-999999999 has an equal and random chance of breaking bind, I was trying to explain why I think it does not.

And actually, I'm not even sure 0 damage bio wont break bind, so I'll just take Shaddix's word on it.

Try it with stone, then with thunder 3, you'll get about the same results. I think rog's right on this one.

Was just PM'd proof of bio not breaking bind, so I'll just back out now. My apologies, rog.

Tips for a decent useable setup? Not looking to break the bank, but not looking to be super gimp either. Want something that'll work for most stuff so I can start playing around with solos before I invest a huge amount of gil/time into getting the REALLY good pieces.

Most of it, I've largely worked out for myself, but a few pieces I'm somewhat iffy on. Specifically:

Waist : Swift Belt for recasts, or Penitent's Rope? Witch Sash I know is better than the latter, but a bit pricey atm to justify the marginal upgrade for me for now.

Hands: Dusk Gloves for recasts, or ... Duelist/Mahatma or Goliard?

Feet: Same deal, Dusk for recasts, or what is there even? Goliard Feet the best non-ridiculous piece to get?

Lastly, does INT effect duration or (for grav) potency? Or is everything (INT, skill, macc) just a factor to determine whether it lands or not?
I use af1 head/af2 body or ACP body/swift/dusk for utsusemi casts, generally.

If you don't have witch sash it is debatable whether to use swift belt for bind. As a general superstition, I wear INT when its not possible to wear M.acc or Enfeebling skill for my bind/grav's. It might be worth it to you to use swift/dusk but I do not want to loose the M.acc of Witch/Goliard.

For feet, Advocat Pigaches would be slightly better than Goliard but I use Goliard because Advocat wont drop.

That is untrue. Gravity is absolutely a variable speed down effect, however you likely don't have enough INT to see it being that variable on HNM.

Also, like some have stated, Bind is almost always broken on damage. It is my opinion this was level based because EP's seemed to not break as often as IT's (which was pretty damn consistently broken but not 100%), so this may still be open to debate. Gravity isn't though, the speed decrease is certainly variable.

    Enfeebling3 vs INT4 Macc2

Using the magic accuracy formulae, worst case scenario you're looking at

3 magic accuracy vs 4 magic accuracy

Best case scenario you're looking at

3 magic accuracy vs 6 magic accuracy

    Goliard are always gonna win~

Where are you getting this info from?
Not saying it's not true, but I've never noticed a speed down difference so far, so is there any test that proves this?

Aren't all movement speed changes tiers of 1/8 (12.5%)?

Personally I was pretty sure gravity was a static 50% speed reduction.

Although if there is proof of it being variable I would be interested to read it.

I guess i don't have enough int to notice a difference between wild rabbits and lvl 90+ hnms either, amirite?

Not to mention diminishing returns on high levels of skill.
