I honestly forgot alla still existed.
How is the issue with BLM not DMG or MP based? Yeah there are other issues, but those are two main reasons why BLM is being out shadowed by SCH. Over time SCH completly beats out BLM. BLM still has good spike DMG, but the longer the battle goes on, the faster SCH out damages. There should be no reason why SCH out does BLM, just like SCH shouldnt take over a WHM or RDM.
Obviously this is more focused on non PT situations, my suggestions wernt for BLM to be accepted back into PTs, just fun abilities to have around, and give them an edge over SCH again.
Im not sure what BLM needs to be accepted back into PTs, but I dont think it's with the job itself. Look at the mobs that are being fought, look at the areas these mobs are being fought in there needs to be something done with the system itself, but ive a feeling that would just upset melee.
Lets think about it, theres no way the orignal PT structure will come back, if it's a TP burnable mob, no one will invite BLM, no matter what they do to the job, unless they get some sort of magical time mage spell and can increase haste above cap. And conversly to mana burn mobs, why would you form PTs around a mob that melee suck on and BLM can solo/group to kill much more efficently?
Sure changing a few things about the job will help a bit, but something needs to be done about the PT itself, and player mentallity. Honestly BLM does decently in a PT, it's just that players dont want to go back to RoZ zones, they want an effortless ToAU party.
This applies to BST in PTs as well, they do do good DoT, it's just that theyre not the best damager there is. It's not all of SEs fault these jobs are being neglected, it has a lot to do with players just wanting the best, and the best only.
Which is exactly why I said earlier that no matter how much SE tries to put in new merit camps that it will always fail unless they jam Colibri in Beau/Xarc (S). If anyone thinks we'll be EXPing on anything remotely interesting like those Gargoyles found in the .dats....i'll be the first to say they probably will have petrify, doom-gazing, some rediculous AOE and true sight/sound behavior - pretty much everything you dont want in an EXP mob.Sure changing a few things about the job will help a bit, but something needs to be done about the PT itself, and player mentallity. They'll end up like Peistes and Orobons before them, something you avoid at all costs.
Unless SE changes the party dynamic to give reason to take on difficult Beastmen mobs, no ones is going to do just up and abandon easy shit Colibri.
There's too many DD in the game and Beastmaster has no unique tools to bring to the table when every other DD has something unique. Hell even Puppetmaster has zoomed past BST even though that job has flaws of its own. (sup activate timers, shitty AI, lolpup stigma) I can think of a situation that every other DD class can be great yet when I think BST, im drawing serious blanks. This applies to BST in PTs as well, they do do good DoT, it's just that theyre not the best damager there is. There are other solutions, not that Colibri-addicts will like them.Which is exactly why I said earlier that no matter how much SE tries to put in new merit camps that it will always fail unless they jam Colibri in Beau/Xarc (S).
Colibri buffs aside: having an exp bonus(doesn't stack with ring) for monster variety that resets on Conquest count is one solution. After 50-150 of one family(that is to say: Colibri or Big Birds, not all Bird monsters) the bonus is gone for the week. Of course this is yet another solution to exp-heavy requirements of leveling, more so than an answer to the camping problem of endgame. (This would also be a buff to fighting harder monsters)
However, I would be fooling myself in thinking that would be enough to end everyone only caring about 1 or 2 camps.
1) (lol theorie )get a blm cast a long timecast spell on colibri, then watch the colibri reflecting and die before he finish cast
2) raise XP cap, chain cooldown and chain bonus on higher lvl mob
WHM will get a new spellSpoiler: show
BLM update go, or gtfo SE, and eya, dont need up the fucking damage on spell, but better MP management and some fun new JA goddamn.
Of course there aren't going to be any new avatars this update. What are you, crazy?
As hopeful as everyone is being about them, and as much as I want them too, yeah.. I don't think they even exist. It's all a lie fabricated by SE who seems to enjoy the pain and crushed dreams of summoners.
Of course there's not going to be a BLM update, either. Stop dreaming.
Kinda excited about northlands [s] except for the fact that offensive campaign still sucks donkey nuts and there's absolutely no point to it unless they fix it (which they might, but I'm not hopeful).
Really excited about new missions, yay! Plz to be extending Windurst quests...as a summoner main, the storyline twists are making me all hot and bothered.
I wonder what the job updates they're talking about will really be...
I hope separating waltz timers for DNC (pleasepleaseplease...)
I saw this and I got a little happy but then reality hit.
Reality Check:
-BLM probably isn't getting an update
-If we do, it will be done wrong.
-SMN is doomed to just be waiting on new avatars to play with until you realize they suck too.
-Skittles.
Give a multiplier for doing SC/MB during battle and you fix the problem for some camps. Maybe 5x XP multiplier for LV1; a 10x XP multiplier for LV2; and a 15x multiplier for LV3. Then an extra 10-15x for MB to ensure the BLM. I don't think anyone would pass up such crazy XP!
It's not like they didn't do this when they brought ToAU. Your average PTs were making 3k/hr before ToAU with MB/SC. If you had a TP burn PT (Which moderately good gear), then you could get 10kishXP/hr. Most of the PTs that make that much in ToAU PTs now wouldn't reach near that tier on Weapons/Birds.
Edit: The XP problem for BLM isn't as dire as people suggest. Compared to melee, they make less XP, but to SMN (Without 2hr PT)/PUP, it's decent XP. SCH is pretty much the same as BLM unless people are willing to part with haste in an XP PT.
Two Melee of any variety do SC. The WHM, RDM, or BRD casts Dia. Suddenly 100k/hr parties!
EDIT: Here is your fix for SC and MB. SCs should rarely ever resist. MBs should give back 50% MP and only give 50% enmity. Add gear to increase this.
Adding flat exp rewards ignores that fact that more efficient play will net more exp in the long run. (It also does nothing for situations like some Assault/etc that are pretty much exp-less exp parties)
Maybe add more monsters that take double MB damage.
Yeah I'm guessing little/no changes to BLM, but anything to just increase MP regeneration somehow would be wonderful. Aspir works on like 1/10 of the mobs, maybe some Aspir II that works on mobs w/o MP. Also Darkness damage is awesome and some sort of darkness damage spell would be appreciated.
idfk though, I'm not getting paid to imagine how to fix jobs, SE should be thinking of this shit.
Well... i will simplify. If you are not a blm or have never leveled it other than just to have or subbing purposes it wont matter to you. As career blm there needs to be some changes made to overall dynamic of the job.
We originally are intended to deal elemental damage at high rate with sacrifice of survivability. Basically mean yes we can put some hurt on mobs but die faster than pretty much any other job excluding smn. Smn have pets to help them. We need either tanks/healers or others to share hate with. Now yes we can sleep nuke sleep nuke sleep nuke but isnt as effective as other methods.
Blm i think need...
- ja/trait that increases our accuracy when casting. elemental seal is not what i am looking at either.
- change to mobs resistance... elemental weaknesses actually should mean something. Casting aeroIV on air element and doing damage is way wrong. something as simple as if mob is earth based wind is by far best for damage others will not get the same impact.
- dark based damage spells... lets see.... bio, bio2, aspir, drain, absorb spells, tractor, stun, dread spikes..... being A- in skill level for not much of a selection. Make a tier'd selection... name doesnt matter but tier 1-4 with 1-3 -ga. Call it demi or void or whatever feels froggy enough for ya.
Overall a few tweaks and a bit of attention could go long way. Also since i am typing..
Smn needs at least one more pet. Light based since there are 2 dark why not 2 light. Carby will always be my first love but atomic squirrel needs a friend...
Cor/Brd with a regain spell/roll/song whatever would be nice. But to avoid it from being broken would need a limit or low tic. Like 1 per 10 sec or only when not engaged on mobs.
Dnc needs auto-regain and maybe a regain samba. and please.... seperate timers on shit. I know is JA based but how hard would it be to make a list of all like mages or just leave as is and just per JA timers.... sheesh
Mnk would be nice to have some defense help but blah....
I only speak on the jobs i play.... cause quite simply i know em others can speak for their own choices.
SE probably won't be majorly adjusting DNC or SCH until the next big CoP/ToAU sized (real) expansion releases the next set of new jobs.
This.
As BRP said, the issue is not damage, but within other game mechanics. Giving BLMs another tier of spells is attempting to maintain limb reattachment with a couple of band-aid. SE had a thought with AM2's damage increases involving Skillchains, but it seems they really don't give a shit anymore. Ultimately, it could be considered too late within the lifespan of the game to overhaul certain aspects of the mechanics. And if they do even attempt to change it, it could end up worse than it currently is. Just look at SWG and all their revamps...
I don't feel this is true. Maybe if we were adding whole new aspects to the battle system, but most of these suggestions/options are nothing but new animation/ability that changes modifiers and junk that's already in the game. SE will probably continue doing things like this far after FFXIV.Ultimately, it could be considered too late within the lifespan of the game to overhaul certain aspects of the mechanics.
Also, why has no one ever considered BLM nuking by proxy? Why not just boost a melee's next WS with spell damage? IV tier spell adds weaker damage in a Spirits Within-like bonus. (Follow up with a SC or MB for extra damage, or previously land Curse for quick and heavy damage without much hate)
The only way I can see a BLM being useful is having some new type of mob incredibly weak to skillchains and magic bursts. So weak that even at 50% health, an unresisted MB'd nuke would kill it.
