Not sure if these will meet everyone's requirements for "cult films." However, they were all movies that I had never heard before watching them and really liked.

Most of the recent ones aren't really "cult" movies but they're pretty underrated.

It's kinda crazy how good John Carpenter's early stuff was compared to, say, almost everything he made after Escape from L.A. (even though it was the same exact thing as Escape from NY).

Here are some of my favorites.

I usually don't like asian movies but these 2 are exceptional.

The Chaser (Korean name: Chugyeogja)

Some english/NA ones (some have been mentioned:

Jarhead
Special - I loved this movie. Michael Rapaport plays the lead and he does an amazing job.
The Wackness - Great movie, still don't think it has been picked up by theaters but it has been shown at film festivals. Josh Peck does a good job as the lead.
Johnny Mnemonic - Just had to post this. Hahaha.

Will post others if I can think of more, I have a huge movie load on my back up hard drive with tons of movies.

I would also suggest the entire Akira Kurosawa Collection. Alot of the movies were based off his stories, including Star Wars and The Magnificent Seven.

The Last Word - Stars that creepy dude from American Beauty. He plays a poet who writes peoples suicide notes, first movie I've seen Ray Romano play a serious role in also, and he was actually very good.

I was going to say this, but thought it was too high budget to be "cult", if you know what I mean. But definately Stallone's best work, he was brilliant in this movie, and he did the movie for $50,000 (his movies before this like Demolition Man were netting him over $20 mil per movie) just to try to get away from the action typecast, which I thought was admirable and more actors should do stuff like this.

I know what you mean, but its budget was only $15M (despite having Stallone, De Niro, Ray Liotta, and Harvey Keitel) - plenty of films in this thread have budgets more than that.

Yh am a massive fan of drug movies, but ive seen most cult drug films, or at least like the top 15 lol.

Echoing Finesse's standpoint here. If you haven't seen Battle Royale, do so. Just for the love of God avoid the sequel at all costs. I was just going to add Lars and the Real Girl in as well. It's a fantastic, quirky movie. I see Krull listed up there as well, fantastic campy movie lol. And Cemetary Man is a fantastic movie, the girl in it is not Jeri Ryan though. The girl's name is Anna Falchi. And she is fucking stacked.

Ichi the Killer I'm not a fan of. I can understand the appeal but to me the movie was just over the top with the violence. The plot itself is interesting enough to carry the movie. But I just wasn't a fan of it.

I don't know if I would really classify it as a cult flick, but the movie Half Nelson is absolutely fantastic.
