You probably caught a stomach flu.

Wrong, it's June 8th 2009, and the only flu I know going around (in the U.S.) is the H1N1 Virus aka Swine Flu, you may not like it, but I'm sorry it's still here, and causing a nuisance. Look how easily everyone in his family caught it after one person did, very contagious because none of us have immunity to it.

You're not going to die though, (even though it does kill perfectly healthy people according to the WHO and should be considered a moderate virus now) unless you have certain underlying health conditions.

The WHO also announced that they are raising the Pandemic level to lv 6 (the one that depicts the spread of the virus), but in addition they're also adding a 3 lv scale (one that depicts the severity of the virus), that will be used from now on when Pandemics reach level 6 (spread). Most likely the 3 lv scale will be put at mild-moderate-severe.

All you guys are telling him to do is go to the doctor lol, the doctors are not testing people or helping them much if they come in with any symptoms like these. The only time they test people is if they're critically ill (on ventilators) or dead bodies (during autopsy) ever since the media quieted down. The materials used in the test kits are not cheap, and the Republicans are the ones who declined a major amount of money used in the stimulus, which was supposed to be used for Flu Pandemics like these.

There's more cases than there are confirmed probably x10 more. Basically what I'm saying is, if you go to the doctor he probably wont even give you the right medication, I know someone who went to the doctor and they gave him a prescription for antibiotics for his sore throat/vomiting/diarrhea instead of antivirals like Tamiflu or Relenza.

P.S. The WHO said they were raising it to lv 6 within 10 days (since June 3rd), so only about 5 days or less til they raise it, but they waited this long because they were monitoring the Southern Hemisphere. While monitoring the, it has been confirmed the majority of flu cases down there have been H1N1 and it has overtaken the normal seasonal flu numbers. Level 6 Pandemic Level will also be accompanied by the 3 point scale that measures Severity of course (which will most likely be set to moderate rather than mild according to the WHO). They don't want it to prompt panic though, but they want it to prompt preparation and vigilance. In Level 6 they will also be mostly mass-producing the H1N1 Vaccine and lessening the production of the Seasonal Flu Vaccine.

If you really are losing alot of fluids don't forget to replace the salts you are losing. Your back pain might be from cramping because you've not replaced them. Try and drink isotonic things. In war torn countries diaharrea / vomiting kills because people don't replace them both. If you manage to keep down some water, sugar and salt, then your chances of survival are much greater. Good luck. =)

Edit: Lucozade original survived for years because of its use for this. But any of those sporty drinks that do a similar thing should do.

Jeezus-tapdancing-christ Stomach flu is *not* influenza, it's a common name for a variety of intestinal infections that have similar syptoms and modes of transmission. Someone already said norovirus, which is the usual culprit in the US.
