The OP just needs to respond and tell us a couple days from now, how long they all are sick for, and what other symptoms they have besides aches/excessive vomiting/excessive diarrhea.
I got a virus in June, gave it to my GF, excessive vomiting/diahhrea, fever, chills etc.. This was two years ago, I must have been patient zero for H1N1, sorry everyone my bad.

It might not be common in your mind, but I've seen it, and It's mostly what causes people to stay home with it when they get any type of flu. Infact, they closed down schools all over the world (and still are), because kids were throwing up all over the place, and that's not a pretty sight really. You are right though that nausea doesn't always cause vomiting, but you CAN get dizzy if you are fatigued and lethargic from having the flu (which results in Nausea and Vomiting). I'm not "citing random shit" either, all the posts except one, that I linked too, come from articles from TODAY, as today ends we now know that 15 states have reported at least 1 death (out of 50 states), and every state has multiple cases.

All in all, there's really no point in arguing if it's the stomach flu vs swine-origin influenza, unless he goes to the doctor and gets it checked out and confirmed to see which one it is. If it is the stomach flu, then the vomiting and diarrhea will stop before 48hrs have passed (and if it continues then u must go to the doctor immediately).

I recommend you two take your shit out of threads that involve someone being sick and asking for advice, especially when the symptoms are so obviously standing out. Now leave the ignorance, and post some actual facts and substance or you can get the fuck out please.
This goes for moronic bastards like you too Vekta.

For fucks sake, it's almost unbelievable how desperate you are in trying to diagnose the original poster with swine flu. Let me break this down for you. He's only exhibiting two symptoms that appear to be caused by his illness, which are vomiting and diarrhea. You're telling him that because the illness appears to be contagious and that because these symptoms appear in a relatively small amount of swine flu cases, he has swine flu. Do you have any idea how many illnesses cause both vomiting and diarrhea? The odds of him having contracted swine flu based on that evidence is astronomical.

And yes, you are posting a slew of random links. Nobody was ever discussing the existence or potential threat of swine flu, you gallantly assumed that someone was challenging it. Yes, the swine flu exists. Are the chances that the original poster has contracted the swine flu high? Not remotely.

He didn't even do that, or he would've known the flu is an upper respiratory infection and that the OP didn't report anything like, you know, a cough.

I've never seen anyone with such a boner for an illness like this.

Like what some people have said in this thread, sounds like Norovirus.

My family got it a few months back, started with my wife, who complained about the same symptoms you said in the OP, who then gave it to my 2 year old son. Must admit I freaked the fuck out when my son start puking non-stop and had diarrhea, you feel so helpless when someone so young is going through something like that, especially if they start refusing to eat/drink. Surprisingly I didn't catch it though even after being covered in vomit from my son puking all over me and what not. Strong immune system I guess.

You might have caught it and been asymptomatic, it happens. It's a big reason to wash hands and practice good hygiene whenever you're around people.

I somehow dodged stomach flu my entire life til the past couple years, I never got it when other family members did. But after my last two episodes I can see how it would scare the hell out of parents, I still have taste aversions to particular foods that I attempted (unsuccessfully) to eat during those times.

At least Mojo knows how to post without flaming and being rude, ignorant and complacent, when arguing about the H1N1 Virus, hopefully the flamers like: Vekta/Kuro/Shue/Thepanda/Kuya can stop starting fighting and arguments, but anyways...

He only confirmed vomiting and diarrhea as the "main symptoms," doesn't mean they are the only symptoms. He also states that he has pain and aching and dehydration (which could be a result of pooping so long and vomiting but that happens in the flu too). If you have an illness and you're vomiting and having diarrhea, you'd definitely define those as the "main symptoms." He may have forgotten to list the coughing/respiratory problems because they are minor to him. Hopefully he comes back tomorrow and explains more, especially if he's really seeking advice from the people who are actually being rational with their posts.

Swine flu cases are not relatively small, because not everyone is getting tested or reporting it for one. The actual cases, according to the CDC, are in the hundred and thousands in the U.S. (that's an old article, but both the WHO and CDC still say it's in the hundreds of thousands maybe even millions by now worldwide total)

At least if I post a link, I support it with my opinion, and interpretation of the article. They are not random, they pertain to my argument, so I'm not sure what you mean. If I were to just post a bunch of random mumbo jumbo, without any sources or interpretation to back it up, then yes you could accuse me for posting a "random slew of links."

We won't know what the poster has, unless he comes back here (after going to the doctor and getting tested), and tells us the diagnosis. I don't understand why he would post this thread, if he wasn't going to do that, but if he doesn't then this thread is just a waste of time, and we will just randomly speculate as to what it may be, without actually being in his shoes.

Reading is fundamental. Mojo said that blasting out both ends happens in a small number of flu cases, not that swine flu itself is small.

Well ok I made a mistake in interpreting that part, but people always seem to want to take my posts out of context, so I thought he was, but in actuality I read it wrong. Anyways, lets wait and see what the original poster, Takedown says later on or tomorrow...maybe he'll even recover by then hopefully.

There was a swine flu 'pandemic' back in 1918 too.

Pretty sure we survived that one, and our medical tech was worse then.

    Shut up already.

Backpedal more, it's hilarious to watch.

Edit: Do you understand the difference between CDC/WHO's numbers for reported cases and reported fatalities? Because last I checked the death toll was still remarkably low. Getting sick is not a new thing and the H1N1 virus is treatable in a vast majority of cases (and is also not new). The deaths attributed so far are due to lack of proper care and/or weak immune systems (primarily in the infantile and elderly).

Edit2: With only 158 confirmed deaths specifically due to this virus (out of ~27,000 confirmed cases), the death rate is just over 5%. MORE PEOPLE DIE IN CAR ACCIDENTS EVERY DAY.

I'm sure you think you sound intelligent after reading your CDC memos and listening to CNN all day but please, stop. It's embarrassing.

Pedialyte is amazing for things like this. It may taste like shit (its like drinking saliva), but it will do your body wonders by rehydrating you with everything you need. Its mainly targeted towards children, but it works the same for adults.

You can find it at any major grocery store.

    http://pedialyte.com/dehydration.aspx

    What is dehydration?

When you have diarrhea with or without vomiting, large amounts of fluid and minerals, called electrolytes, are lost from the body. This fluid loss can be excessive and frequently can lead to a more serious condition called dehydration.

    Why dehydration is a problem

Dehydration causes our bodies to become out of balance. With dehydration, more water is moving out of our bodies than we’re taking in through drinking. When the body loses too much water it can no longer function efficiently.

Dehydration can make you feel even worse. If you have both diarrhea and continued vomiting, dehydration can become dangerous even more quickly.
Pedialyte is an oral electrolyte solution that is specifically designed to replace fluids and minerals (electrolytes) that are lost when you have diarrhea with or without vomiting. Pedialyte is effective because it contains only small amounts of sugars (dextrose and fructose) that are balanced with appropriate levels of electrolytes. Pedialyte is designed with this precise combination of sugars and electrolytes to promote quick fluid and electrolyte absorption. In general, other household beverages such as sports drinks, sweetened sodas and juices are too high in carbohydrates (sugar) and too low in sodium -- an important electrolyte that is lost during diarrhea and vomiting.

Pedialyte contains the quantity and ratio of sugars (dextrose and fructose) and minerals (electrolytes) recommended by the American Academy of Pediatrics. This precise balance of sugar and electrolytes makes Pedialyte effective in the management and treatment of diarrhea with or without vomiting.

Without added sweeteners, Pedialyte is not sweet. Adding sugar (sucrose) to Pedialyte may make diarrhea worse by drawing water into the intestine, increasing the risk of dehydration. Adding sweeteners like ace K (acesulfame potassium) and sucralose makes Pedialyte taste good without the risks of adding sugar (sucrose).
