With all of New Phyrexia leaked theres already some M12 leaks going around. Mostly speculation but this has turned up

Could be fake but looks pretty legit playtest cards. Suggests theres gonna me rares to Planeswalker's cards perhaps more to play into M12's tagline "Gather your allies". Set could have alot of creatures with +1 counters to add more value to proliferate. Bloodthirst is the "guest" mechanic replacing scry and works as a tool to encourage new players to play spells on the 2nd main phase which most new players completely ignore.

possibly stupid question about Ajani's Pridemate. If I have 2 Soul Wardens in play and I play Ajani's Pridemate I gain 1 life, twice. Because the ability is triggered "when another creature enters the battlefield" and not "when a creature spell is cast" does that mean that, as Pridemate has entered the battlefield, it gains 2 1/1 counters? Or does that only work on all subsequent lifegains?

The creature enters the battlefield, triggering both soul wardens. The +1 life from each goes on the stack. When the first +1 life resolves, the Pridemate triggers, and his +1/+1 counter ability hits the stack, it resolves, then the 2nd soul warden resolves, triggering the pridemate again, which resolves, giving you a 4/4 pridemate.

All right, that's how it seemed to read to me, but my friend who used to play back in like 98-2001 was saying that the stack or whatever would be pridemate, warden, warden and thus resolve as +1 life -> +1 life-> pridemate in play with no counters, or something like that.

etb (enter the battlefield) effects don't trigger until the cast of the creature resolves, and he's a real life breathing creature on the battlefield.
    Your friend is an idiot.

They need to do something about that...esp. when the uncommons are outshining 3/4 of the mythics in every set.

Proliferate is awesome in EDH, mainly because its a slower format. Plus you have cards like Magistrate's Scepter that let you take infinite turns once you get going (which doesn't take too much work).

    Edit:

I'm fine with it since it means the best cards will be easier to get and more plentiful.

I'm a collector, so I would rather have Despise be $50 a pop than $3. Just me, I know that is not most player's standpoint.

Well yeah EDH is a whole different beast. Such a different game flow that lots of strategies are beastly in EDH absolutely suck in any other format. My strongest EDH deck usually wins by having consecrated sphynx and psychosis crawler out plus lots of other card drawing cards like teferi's puzzle box. Sometimes I will also have library of leng or Venser's Journal to add insult to injury.

I played a 5 person EDH game where I got that combo out and I was drawing 8-10 cards every time between my turns.

Mythic rarity was never supposed to be about playability, they were just supposed to be the "epic" cards of the set.

Disagree. Mythic rarity allows them to test powercreeps.

how do prerelease events work? never been to one, is it a standard thing across locations or do different places do it differently?
event says 6 pack sealed, so is that as self explanatory as it sounds? 6 packs out of which to build a deck?

Different places do it differently. Mine does a Sealed at midnight and then another sealed at 12 noon. The prize for each is 2 boxes for 1st.

The shitty stores do booster drafts with Scars/Beseiged/NPH.

I am very excited about the pre-release. I am not very good at sealed either but it is still fun to me. So far in the sealed 2 headed giant tourney and the last pre-release I have made it to the top 8 so maybe I will get lucky this time and do better. There are some particular cards in this set that are just going to be retarded bombs in sealed and others that aren't as much.

I love sealed though because it allows you to play with all those "crappy" cards that you never look at again like Scrapdiver Serpent which was very powerful in sealed since most people had artifacts and as soon as it hit the table it was unblockable 5/5.

    I've given you tips >_<!

    1. 2 Colors max (3rd color option: splash black or red for removal if you only have 1-2 good black or red removal spells)

    2. Removal spells are the best

    3. Sealed is generally slower than draft, so fattys are good or slower strategies in general

    4. Avoid infect unless you have enough creatures, or only play the ones like Virridian Corrupter which act as removal

    5. Obvious, but abilities like flying are much better in sealed/draft than in constructed
