I have opened two fat packs and one third of a box and have gotten 3 batterskulls and one sword of war and peace so far mythic wise. Got plenty of good rares though like 3 hex parasites, 1 phyrexian metamorph, 2 puresteel paladins, 2 lashwrithe.

Have one more box coming I am hoping for an obliterator or karn or one more sword. I am trying to work out a decent deck that utilizes puresteel paladin and doesn't suck.

So far it looks like this:

I am going to take out the 2 Darksteel axe and replace them with 2 more swords if/when I can get them. And I am still on the fence about the tumble magnets I have to assemble this deck and playtest it. I might replace the tumble magnets with some other form of removal like condemn. Or maybe I will make room in the deck for Infiltration Lens to help with card advantage.

Deck looking solid so far. Here are some cards to consider
Mirrian Crusader - double strike with any sword is good and pro black/green makes it hard to deal with. Crusader with War and Peace is retarded, pro 4 colors and can hit from 8-22 damage in one attack
Bonehoard - its equipment so obvious synergy with puresteel. Its living weapon so get a free dude and its a good guy to drop after a boardwipe.
Brave the Elements - most your guys are white so this protects them from most threats or can be used to get someone holding a sword through.
Into the Roil/Dismember - Since war and peace is getting played alot white removal is at a disadvantage. Into the roil can also deal with non-creature threats like Jace plus could cantrip.
Inkmoth Nexus - yeah its infect but manlands are good especially flying ones. Survives boardwipes and can carry a sword in putting the clock on an opponent.

Don't think they would reprint Sengir vampire. Wizards shifted vampires from bigger few and far between creatures to be a more common smaller creatures to make the the primary tribe of Black kinda like how elves are to green.
http://www.mtgcast.com/?p=9909 Theres a podcast out today that previews Duel of the Planeswalkers 2012 and some of the new cards in it which are assumed to be in M12. Bloodlust mechanic is mostly focused in Black and secondary in Red and Green. There are at least 2 common vampires with bloodlust.

-EDIT- Apparently Sengir Vampire is back in M12 as an uncommon. Similar to how Serra Angel was reprinted.

It just struck me as odd when I saw it on a few lists of "revealed-so-far" M12 spoiler (must have been bullshit). I forget who, but even one of the designers recently mentioned how shitty Sengir Vampire is these days, regardless of the goblins/elves/soldiers/merfolk/vampire thing. 5 mana goes a lot further these days in black than a 4/4 flyer with a shitty triggered ability which almost never happens. Not to mention that a beefy flyer like that isn't so much part of the black color pie anymore.

P.S. "Hexproof" is a pretty lame keyword name. Not feeling it.

I have a Tempered Steel deck I need some advice on.

I have the meat of the deck but I'm confused on what to use for possible potatoes.
I'm leaning towards White/Blue but I'm open to White/anything

I can't for the life of me think of what the deck needs. Any help would be super.

First off with tons of artifacts I think you should get Dispatch in there its just too good for this kind of deck. Spellskite can protect your guys from some removal and can go into any deck but could slow down your offensive.

W/U - Playing White/Blue but only blue card i see is Gitaxian probe which doesn't even need blue to play. Probe doesn't net you more then a cantrip since seeing your opponents hand doesn't help you a ton in this deck like it does for control or combo decks. If your splashing blue you need some card draw in there to find your 2 key cards tempered steel and steel overseer. So White/Blue suggestions : Preordain, Into the Roil, Spell Pierce, Mana leak, Spellskite(could go in any color).

W/R - Can work the major card you be splashing red for is probally Galvanic Blast but new card Whipflare is an attractive option. This combantion is at a big disadvantage against decks running Sword of War and Peace. White/Red suggestions : Galvanic blast, Arc Trail, Whipflare, Hero of Oxida Ridge, W/R fetchland.

W/G - I dont think this is a good option best addition here is Fauna shaman really and its not that good in this deck since only thing it will go fetch is Steel overseer.

W/B - Decent option gives less conditional spot removal and hand disruption that can really mess up opponents early game when your trying to get most your damage through. White/Black suggestions : Inquisition of Kosilek, Despise, Duress, Go for the Throat, Doom Blade, Vault Skirge, W/B fetchland.

Currently this is the Tempered steel deck im running. I'm considering cutting Ornithopter for somethings like Emerge Unscathed or upping mox/glinthawk numbers. Also looking into testing out W/B version.

Loose the Marrow Shards, they're trash. Same with unwinding clock. If you want to play the blue then throw the Phymana Tezz draw in and spellskites mainboard. Vault Skirge or Hex parasite are good too.

Just getting back into the game, went out today got some more packs and came out pretty lucky. Pulled a Sheoldred, Elesh Norn, and Phyrexian Obliterator out of 9 packs total. Plan on building a mono black deck around Sheoldred/Oblit and probably a White/Red based around Elesh Norn. Thinking about some Priests of Urabrask and a couple of Myr Superions to make it a speedy aggro deck but suggestions would be welcomed considering how rusty I am!

(For this set I literally have almost all New Phyrexia with some Scars/Beseiged thrown in but only a few packs worth so base suggestions around that I guess!)

No matter what colors you choose, Vault Skirge should be an auto-include since it can be cast by any color (and 2 life). The life loss is irrelevant since it'll get the life back for you.

The problem with this deck (and all agro decks in Standard) is Batterskull + Stoneforge gives it all types of fits, and caw-blade is starting to main deck Divine Offering. Not to mention it is completely cold to Emeria Angel (infinite blockers).

The Challenges were one of the best things about the game, hoping the next one has more overall.


Took 2nd last night in Legacy with Painted Stone. Went 3-1 in rounds and 6-2 in games only losing to Junk (G/W/B) since he kept drawing removal before I could draw the other half of the combo.

I still run Valakut Titan and still manage to play to top 3 consistently for FNM. People mad at me for beating the odds on caw blade so often. Getting compared to a Jund player feels kinda insulting.
