Haters gunna hate. Whatever gets you prizes is all that matters. I played darkblade in my last tournament, I went 3-2 losing to tempered steel because I was not prepared for it. I dislike darkblade, but oh well. Apparently every deck I play I dislike lol.

Pulled foil Phyrexian Obliterator. I am pleased.

I am always such a fucking sucker for buying packs when I'm at Target because they are there. The only thing they ever had that wasn't overpriced was Zendikar Fat Packs because every fucking Magic-aware card shop wanted $50~$60 for them (I can't believe how much the full-art basic lands were going for then).

I'm starting to wonder how common this guy is. At Prerelease there was 3 foil Obliterators pulled, My friend has pulled 2 foil obliterators, seen one in draft and I've seen 3 randomly floating around in people's binders at my local cardshop and New Phyrexia has been out what 3 weeks?

My friend and I cracked a box of NPH last night and I ended up with my first ever foil mythic, a foil Karn. Also got 1 obliterator, 1 white praetor, 1 green praetor, and 1 black praetor.

I only look at sets with limited in mind. I split top4 of 38 people tonight netting me 10packs and they had some extra full art black sun zeniths! Baller. I did a draft in between rounds and I did ok, triple quicksilver geyser, 2 dispense justice and a corrupted conscience lul. I didn't have much of a tempo though, so anything too aggressive ate me. It was a 3vs3 team draft, first to 5 wins. My friend I pool with won the dice roll for first pick and we ended up with a foil darkslick shores. Not bad I guess.

Sengir Vampire, what the fuck.

yeah it didn't seem right to reprint it since they focus more on smaller vamps now but guess WotC trying add more mid range vampires. Its getting Serra Angel treatment and getting reprinted as an uncommon.
Hopefully there will be more aggresive vamps in this set or Innistrad since vampire decks will lose alot when visera seer, highborn and bloodgast rotate.

I'd rather them just print a functionally not-shitty version of Sengir Vampire and keep it at rare. When I first started playing around Alpha~Beta days, I remember Sengir Vampire being the shit as I imagine many other amateurs thought. I am thinking that they reprinted it because it's a Core Set and completely appeals to beginners. It's beefy black creature, with no drawback, and a decently flavorful effect, even if it pretty much never gets to activate unless someone is desperate. I was just recently reading Mark Rosewater's old article about why they continue to make "bad" cards and this one fits into the explanations pretty well.

Sengir is good in limited, but obviously unplayable beyond that. They really do need to do something about how bad spells are. Creatures are much better than back in the day, but spells are so much worse. 4/4 on Sengir is not even considered "beefy" anymore.

I guess I meant "beefy" more in the context of a downside-less uncommon black flier. Also, I am not a competitive player by any means (I don't know if I could ever grow the balls to cross over into that territory) so I always think in the casual/vintage/classic formats.

I'm also much more of an old-school player who started playing somewhere between Alpha~Beta but collected primarily at Antiquities through to Visions. (At that point, my born-again-Christian mother took my collection at that point because her boyfriend told her the cards were evil. Is it ironic that his namesake card sucked?) I only got back into things once around the middle of Lorwyn block through to the end of Zendikar. For some reason I haven't touched Scars much. I guess I feel a little out-of-the-loop with it since the whole block is a throwback to a time I missed out on.

I'm hoping Innistrad is going to be something fresh and fun again. I loved both halves of the Lorwyn block,especially Shadowmoor/Eventide's art and "enemy color" hybrids (I have a soft spot for black/white combos). I didn't care for the triple-color Alara theme at all and I felt that the cheap multi-colors and Cascade were pretty broken. Recently, I really enjoyed Zendikar's "land-matters" twist and I kinda' wish it stood out a bit more in a non-Limited format.

I like when blocks encourage mono-color decks, or two-color tops. Gnarly single-color hosers bum me out.

http://www.starcitygames.com/ has shipped fairly quickly/arrived in good condition so far, only ordered a couple times though. Was using mtgchicago based on a friend's recommendation but it took them two weeks to ship my preordered NPH booster box, and I had to call multiple times to get them to actually put it in the mail, with them never so much as saying "sorry for the inconvenience".
