See, i thought that aswell about the unwinding clocks but my friends told me was stupid and I was stupid for thinking it was good.

You are, but its an easy pitfall to get into.

Its a 4 drop. In the crazy aggro that is Tempered Steel, a 4 drop had better be a finisher and not just a control effect.

The Mox opals are what makes the deck. Its essentially a land in the deck, and it turns Tempered Steel from turn three into turn two. An ideal starting run is Land, Opal, a couple of 0 costers and Overseer. Turn two is tempered, and swing with 2-3 4/4s. Repeat next turn, either buffing again or swinging in with the overseer, who is now 4/4 as well.

Its an aggro deck, not control, don't play it like one.

What's a typical creature count for my kind of deck? I kinda feel 28 is getting up there as it is, but I may be wrong.

That's about where I would put it, not many other creatures to add that work within the deck, but definatly don't want less.

Also Inkmoth is good, as is a pair of Contested Warzones

Are there any specific articles/websites/forums that are good for newish players? I played magic when Arabian Nights came out and played for about a year and gave up. Over the last few years I've been glancing at WoTC's website to see how the game has progressed and it seems a lot more complex then before. I want to give it a go for the nice mental challenge but would like to do some research and know what I'm doing before I invest money into this hobby.

I'm in the process of re-learning the community myself.. I've been reading Daily MTG (@ wizards.com), Gatheringmagic, TCGPlayer/Brainburst and StarCityGames for articles, strategy & resource. All the other websites I found seem to be BB forums so it'll take time to dig thru them & find out which ones have a good community.

I would rather play Contested Warzone than Inkmoth Nexus in that deck, but thats just me. If you are playing an aggro deck, go all out.

The addition of Inkmoth's give you a mid-game presence which is notoriously lacking in an aggro deck. They (Along with Glint Hawk Idols which I recommend for the deck as well, either main or sideboard) survive sorcery speed board wipes, which are the traditional bane of aggro. They also count towards all of your buffing effects (if overseer gives it a counter, it stays even once it goes back to being a land) and can be a deterrent to your opponents creatures as well.

Plus the colorless mana is a moot point in the deck due to 99% of your spells being artifacts.

How is it ruled that +1 counters get to stay on inkmoth? i was under the impression that it is no longer a legal target once you turn ends since it is no longer a creature. I'm not totally familiar with some of the finer rule points, i've only been playing for a few months.

Counters stay on a permanent regardless if it changes card types. They only target when they are being applied. Counters are only removed if card leaves play or in the case of +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters they cancel each other out as a state based effect.

Got 3rd at mine, only lost to turn 5 Serra Angel eot Chandra's Outrage > 6 Archon of Justice - O. Ring > 7 Sun Titan - block and Chandra's Outrage - 2nd main naturalize on my O. Ring. Some people are good at opening packs.

Just got back from getting my ass handed to me at pre-release. Managed to pull a Sorin, Royal Assassin, and Quicksilver Amulet and still got raped 4 games in a row. Oh well, it was a learning experience.

Pulled a Primeval and Gideon at my pre-release and only managed to get 2nd. I was able to just stuff the deck full of bears and two Jade Mages for a pretty decent press. Spirit Mantle feels pretty clutch.

Just got home from my Pre-release.

Got myself a new Jace and that new draw a card, if a graveyard has more than 20, draw 3 for 1 blue, and some other nice shit that I'm very pleased with. Gidden's Avengers for my EDH deck, Swiftfoot boots which I'm thinking of putting in my Infect deck. That'll be fun.

2-2 in sealed, had to play a mirror match (UW control) in the last round which was odd since we pretty much had the same decks aside from our rares.

Ice Cage is shit in this format since there's so many ways for people to destroy it easily. (Crown of Empires, Gideon's Tapper Guy, Equipment, etc)

Heh... Last draft of the night I busted Garruk in the second pack. Ended up building a ridiculously good green/white deck. Opening match I lose 0-2 to my opponent dropping turn four Jace and decking me each time.
