Took first place last night at FNM booster draft. Super happy and excited it is the first FNM that I have taken first place in. I drafted a mean blue/black deck. 12 booster packs opened total between prize packs and draft packs and not a single mythic/valuable rare though. Sad to see someone come in 6th get 2 prize packs and pull a chandra and a sorin next to me, or the guy who pulled an inferno titan drafting or the other guy who drafted a jace.

Oh well I still feel great about the win.

I killed him both times before he got enough mana out to cast it. When I was playing him one game I killed him with only one swamp and one island out and the other game I killed him with only 2 islands and 1 swamp out. My deck was faster than his and I had answers to all the creatures he put down.

Target had them on clearance a month or so ago for $17. Not sure if it was just in WA or nationwide.

Target's magic cards are stock by a 3rd party vendor. Same vendor stocks Wal-mart as well. Also said Vendor stocks things usually stocks things irregularly and stuff we go thru phases of being there or not and sometimes older product thats been sitting around gets out like few days ago I found some Zendikar packs at walmart and some worldwake packs at Target.

And three of 'em with the exact same decklist. Yeah ok banning Jace & Stoneforge really did a lotta good.

On the other hand, I'm really glad a non-Caw deck won. U/B control isn't anything new & exciting tech-wise but I'll take it.

Yay for Caw-blade still.... Gameday this weekend theres usually alot of homebrews so hopefully there won't be a crap ton of caw-blade running around. Innistrad can't come fast enough format needs rotation.

I'd say anywhere that will sell it for the MSRP of $35. I don't know the street value of those individual cards at all, but I've not seen very many card shops that didn't price hike the shit out of the other From the Vaults because of their awareness of values of reprints like Berserk...

Most of those aren't really in high demand anymore - about 5 of them are played in various formats. All awesome in EDH/Commander though. I'd say Teferi, Progenitus, Kiki-Jiki, Doran, and Sharuum will be the most sought after and highest value. Teferi will go up when Modern becomes a legal format (U/B Teachings should be a popular deck) Berserk and the FTV set was a different story - there were a lot of cards that were on the Reserve List that got put in there. Wizards said shortly after that anything else on the reserve list wouldn't even be printed again in a special set like that.

So, who thinks that Modern will be announced as an official format next month when Innistrad comes out? I'm thinking September, or December will be the announcement. On a related note, does anyone have any Sacred Foundry or Arid Mesa for trade/sale?

most EDH decks aren't really expensive, unless you want to get ALL the staples. Just rummage through the bulk rares at your local game shop and you can build a really good deck, especially if you only play multiplayer 1v1 decks. I'd say 5 color generals are the best to build around if possible.

I built my Sharuum deck about 2 years ago, and it didn't cost much over $200 total, probably. The precons are really good starting points, and if you add some decent bulk rares and uncommons to them it shouldn't cost you over $100 unless you get fruity with lands and such.

Yeah I'm not that impressed with it. They left out a LOT of good older cards AND didn't include any legendary lands in the mix.

Honestly I would have loved to see Gerrard Capashen in the FTV:Legends set, since he was so integral to the storylines for so many years. That was a little disappointing.

They really should have included some of the better legendary lands makes me sad they didn't. Nor did they include any of the good legendary artifacts. I think maybe we will see a FTV: Lands eventually? That would be cool.

That said I had the opposite reaction to the set, it looks really cool to me and I am excited for it because I don't have quite a few of those cards and could really use them for Commander/EDH decks. I will probably be picking up one set if I can find it at retail.

I played about 10 years ago casually, but have some questions about FNM:

So I know the basics behind Sealed and Draft, but how do the matches actually work? Do they limit the people participating, because otherwise, wouldn't the number of matches depend on the number of people attending?

Also, you're supposed to use only the cards you get from the packs, right? Do most people bring their own card sleeves so they don't mess up any potentially expensive card they get? And is Sealed 5 packs? So 5x15 = 75? What about the lands you need?

Also, for basically a complete newbie, Sealed is probably easier, right? Since I won't have much knowledge about the metagame or know enough about sets to base drafting decisions on.
