I went to a small standard tournament last night and went 2-1 with my Junk Pod deck. I did pretty well against a Solar Flare deck and a RDW deck. I found myself wishing multiple times that I had Nihil Spellbombs in my sideboard against Solar Flare. I actually don't own any of them even tho it's a common..

The round I lost was against a U/W control deck that ran Gideon, Karn and Jace. It was the first time I had ever played against planeswalkers and I really underestimated how powerful some of them can be. Definitely need to put more Beast Withins into my sideboard.

Edit: You can probably get 40-50 per Liliana on Ebay and around 20 for the snapcaster. You can do Ebay searches then filter it by only completed listings to get an idea for what you can expect auctions to end at.

Wouldn't Bramblecrush be a little more appealing than Beast Within for dealing with Planeswalkers?

    My draft deck:

    Spoiler: show
    2 Dream Twist
    1 Selfless Cathar
    1 Lost in the Mist
    1 Selhoff Occultist
1 Curse of the Bloody Tome
    1 Moment of Heroism
    2 Grasp of Phantoms
    1 Ghostly Possession
    1 Moon Heron
    1 Runechanter's Pike
    1 Unruly Mob
    1 Frightful Delusion
    1 Armored Skaab
    1 Laboratory Maniac
    1 Ghoulcaller's Bell
    1 Mirror-Mad Phantasm
    1 Chapel Geist
    1 Fortress Crab
    1 Rebuke
    1 Runic Repetition
    1 Dissipate
    10 Island
    7 Plains

Not amazing, but I had fun with it :D

Especially once I put the whites in there...Initially went green/blue with some nice monsters, but they were really slow to get on the table and my opponents had stuff like Garruk and the green that summoned a token for each creature in graveyard every time it attacked, so I'd get swarmed. The whites helped me stay ahead, and I had more evasive guys in the white/blue space. Some of the packs were REALLY stacked and it was really hard to pick sometimes lol. I had an Army of the Dead come across in the 3rd pack but it was in the same pack as something else I could totally use, so I had to let it go

Someone else got a Grimoire of the Damned, and I think we saw 3 or 4 planeswalkers (none came across my spot, just saw em in play). Overall the box had an insane amount of power in it. Some of the folks didn't want their cards so I walked away with an Invisible Stalker and a couple of dual lands as well. 8)

Be surprised what people will pass in drafts. I got passed a Stromkirk Noble and a 3rd pick daybreak ranger last Friday.

Drafting to win vs. hate drafting/money drafting. Sometimes they line up sometimes they don't. I have passed money cards before in favor of a better card for my deck hoping it will help me win the tournament and get more cards.

K, so Provincials are coming this weekend and I'm running Tempered Steel. I have the basic idea of it but it feels lacking.

    So far I've got

    Creatures
    4 Spellskite
    4Vault Skirge
    4 Porcelain Legionnaire
    4 Memnite
    4 Glint Hawk
    3 Blade Splicer
1 Mikeaus(I want 2-3 but getting them is a bitch)
    3 Signal Pest

    Artifacts/spells/Enchantmens
    4 Tempered Steel
    3 Dispatch
    3 Mox Opal
    4 Glint Hawk Idol
    3 Galvanic Blast

    Land
    3 Contested War Zones
    9 Plains
    5 Mountains
    2 Inkmoth Nexus

I'd really like some help. I know it can be better.

None of the duals were passed to me, people just didn't want their cards after the tourney and gave me their whole stack. But there was definitely a lot of drafting to win going on, a few foils came out as the last card in a pack and even I passed on that Army of the Dead in favor of another card in that same pack that felt really good for the draft set.

@Myrrh I don't think you really need red in there since its only for Galvanic Blast unless theres something else in your sideboard. If you really do want it in there tho play 4 clifftop retreats instead of 5 mountains. You also defiantly want to get Shine of loyal legions in there. As for tuning I would suggest this list
    Creatures
    4 Vault Skirge
    4 Memnite
    4 Glint Hawk
    3 Blade Splicer
    1 Mikeaus
    4 Signal Pest
    2 Hero of Bladehold

    Artifacts/spells/Enchantments
    4 Tempered Steel
    4 Dispatch
    2 Dismember
    3 Mox Opal
    4 Glint Hawk Idol
    4 Shrine of loyal legions

    Land
    3 Contested War Zones
    13 Plains
    4 Inkmoth Nexus

    Sideboard
    1 Mikaeus
    2 Oblivion Ring
    3 Phyrexian Revoker
    3 Revoke Existence
    3 Spellskite
    3 Timely Reinforcements

People gave you their decks with duals in them? OK, that's even worse than passing duals for better draft picks. They're not exactly chase cards, but the new duals are still worth a decent amount for trading.

It's a utility splash more than anything else, but yeah I agree it'll become a staple part of RDW in the current format. Using the R/G taplands gives you access to Kessig Wolf Run as a win condition and the flashback cost on Ancient Grudge for extra artifact kill.

Some more decklists to work with:

MTG Grudge Match (1-2 October): http://www.mtgpulse.com/event/3422#44090
Star City Open Nashville (8-9 October): http://sales.starcitygames.com//deck...city=Nashville

Probably the biggest deal to come out of Nashville is the evolution of Flare decks beyond using Liliana. The explanation I'm hearing is that she was sacrificed in order to improve consistency (having double-mana cost spells in every color was straining the deck's mana base). There's also the progression of Wolf Run into a mana-ramp deck that uses Primeval Titan in order to fetch KWR and/or Inkmoth Nexus.

Versus Solar Flare, would you guys prefer to use Surgical Extraction or Nihil Spellbomb in your SB? If Extraction, which is the best target? I'm assuming Sun Titan since it's pretty much the win condition.

Depends on what is in your deck.

I think Trinket Mage is the stuff right now, since if can search up Nihil vs. Solar and Elixer vs. Aggro.

Both are fine options because they can't play around Extraction as easily as Nihil. Nihil is more consistent as a live card.

Surgical Extraction works, but I'd rather go with Memoricide since you don't need a target in the graveyard.

The main thing I don't like about Memoricide is it's a sorcery and the CC.

Got Top-8 this weekend at the Provincials, finished 4th overall after swiss running Solar Flare. Mana Base needs some tweaking still, which was what gave my the only loss Vs Wolf Run Red.
