I miss damage using the stack and mana burn... those were the days.

Damage on stack was awesome, but some cards today would be just broken. Mana burn was the dumbest thing ever.

I'm glad stacked damage and mana burn are gone. They were both unnecessary. The former made zero sense and the latter was almost never encountered.

I thought manaburn made gameplaying more strategic.

I wonder if older players here remember "you don't lose the game until the end of the phase." Could damage yourself during the upkeep to 0 life and use a life swapping card to win the game.

Damage on the stack irked me when I was first starting, but then I after I learned it, abusing Wirewood Symbiote and elves was awesome.

Removing mana burn and making zero health a state based effect were both stupid changes trying to dumb the game down, not a fan of either change.

Making health a state based effect was not dumb... Mirror Universe was never meant to be a 1 card combo.

Combat damage should still stack though :/

    Agree.

The 4 words you never wanted to hear your opponent say, "Damage on the stack?"

I've decided to sell my 40k card collection. Doing a little math with the valuable cards it's worth about 5 grand. Probably get 3k for it though since no one pays top dollar anymore.

I don't want to get rid of them but there is nothing on this side of Michigan to do with them since all the card shops closed and all my friends stopped playing(which really took the fun out of it).

From personal experience sooner or later you will always regret selling your cards no matter how much you get.

semi related, I had a warhammer 40k (40k cards reminded me of it) army that I sold before college since I figured it would take up space and no one would play. First year 4 guys in my dorm played once every couple weeks.

Unless you owned 4 cursed scrolls and unquit to find they went from $100 while standard legal to $12 now.

Cause that sucked. At least I was able to sell my Gaea's Cradles!

I have 4 foil Gaea's Cradles signed by Garfield. Got them all at Nationals in like 99 I think.

One of the nicest looking non-blue cards ever printed.

Coincidentally, I'm looking to get a cradle for EDH. :/

I'm pretty sure I had one in my old binder, but I have no idea where that is.

And here I'm feeling pretty good I sold a couple hundred cards in a box I rediscovered in my garage for 2 grand. Granted it had a Pearl, dual lands, and other good extended shit.

No but going through them the only thing worth a damn is about 30 dual lands and 4 moxs. Going to be getting something like 3.5 for it all.

I use to play on and off and never sold my cards because I always came back but this time its been 4+ years and I haven't done shit. None of my friends play and every card shop within 90 minutes of me is closed. I have better things to do that I enjoy more. I will still keep a deck or 2 but my days of sorting and playing a TON are behind me.

If you still want to do a bit of serious play, and basically obtain a huge chunk of the cards you already have, take $100 of what you're getting and sink it into MTGO. For that much you should be able to get a playset of every common they have coded in, maybe some uncommons too, but cba at count sets and check commons to tickets ratios at the moment.

But with online, you wanna play someone casually, you just hop on and there are always people there, noon or midnight.
