Wizards doesn't seem to want anyone playing control these days. I can understand if control decks are dominating the meta in standard to warrant printing this...but that wasn't even the case.

And this is a fucking Boseiju, Who Shelters Ancient Ziggurat with unconditional mana ability and no life payment for the uncounterability.

Unless they also print a card that goes:

    No, Fuck You
    UU
    Instant
End the turn if there is a spell that can't be countered on the stack, you may then punch your opponent in the face up to X times, where X is the converted mana cost of all spells exiled this way (Punching your opponent through this card's effects will not disqualify you from sanctioned events)

I doubt control will be viable in this meta.

I've always considered counterspells as the most unfun part of Magic. I recognize that they fill a role in keeping combo in check but I still hate them. Even when I'm dominating with a control deck I still feel so scummy casting a cryptic command.

I really wish normal counterspell was in standard The DCI Judge promo one is one of the nicest cards in magic.

So what does everyone think of Entreat The Angels? I'm thinking it could be a strong Token card. I mean, it'd suck to draw it turns 1-3 but Turn 4+ and it's just super golden. That with 1 Virtue out can do some serious damage. I might mess around with 2 in my deck when it's released and see how it goes.

I can see running it as a one or two of on a token deck, anything more than that would just lead to dead early draws or unnecessary mulligans

Which is pretty much a general rule for all Miracle in standard, since library manipulation isn't exactly commonplace

I'll try it out in my BW token deck, but I'm feeling potential for RW (especially for innistrad block play) with the stuff they've spoiled so far, which opens up Faithless Looting to dump excess miracle cards.

And Cavern of Souls isn't *that* gamebreaking, it could still be worked around. That said its an instant 4 of into every tribal deck across all formats

In humans, its pretty damn gamebreaking for standard. Game 1 control has a ton of now-dead cards right off the bat.

I'm telling you, plains + 1 drop > cavern + Thalia = game over for a lot of control decks in standard.

It makes drawing first almost a + for Humans in the control matchup. No more turn 2 mana leak, which is usually the difference between a win and a loss in that matchup.

I know we still have quite a bit of the set left to spoil but I am really sad about how shitty the zombies spoiled so far seem to be. I really hope we get some great zombies in this set. Zombies right now have really strong 1 and three drop creatures it would be cool if they had a strong zombie finisher at 4 5 or 6 cmc that was worthwhile to play in std.

Not to mention Wolf Run naming Giant = gg

it pretty much enable an unanswerable threat against control matchups, taking into account that it comes as a land that requires no mana to cast or activate the ability, had it been packaged on an artifact or enchantment, it'd at least be manageable. The fact it also color fix is just a further kick in the nads.

To put it into aggro perspective, imagine printing Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale and also giving it ability to tap for mana.

If it didn't tap for a colorless, it would be very much average. I love it, regardless that I am a control only player.

Mainboarding ghost quarter I guess? I suddenly feel much better about not selling all my Wastelands, I think they're about to jump up in price if this card doesn't get banned.

Oh and I'm absolutely rolling humans in standard after this is out. Throw in soul blade paladin to beef a champion, oh dear.

This is looking like the most fun draft set in a VERY long time. 3x pack for sure.

Its a shame I am kind of getting away from Magic again right now..

@Xerlic PM me what you have in standard for trade for a non-foil Gaea's Cradle.

    Get crunk welt

3UU sorcery, miracle 1U return ALL nonland permanents to owners hands

Not sure on the name since its only shown in Spanish so far, think its called devastating tide.

Same cost as evacuation ( though sorc instead of instant) but bounces everything + it's a miracle.

There's no way the land gets banned in any format. Just because I can't counter your creature doesn't mean I can't wreck your board with Pernicious Deed and the like.

Edit: Love that new card. Would obviously be much better if instant, but I can still see it played in Legacy with Brainstorm and Top. EoT use to to draw then cast for Miracle cost. Next turn achieve dominant board position.

Yo, Devastating Tide shits so hard on tokens I'd feel the need to sideboard Nevermore for that if I keep running BW tokens after AVR is out (unlikely, feeling RW aggro or BU control).

Terminus 4WW miracle W, put all creatures on the bottom of the library.

Not sure if this one is real, since no pictures yet, but OY.

UW/Esper control is gonna have a blast with AVR.
