If Cavern of Souls was mythic, it would have been $100 out the gate. Thank God for rare.

I remember the time when I bought Librarys for $100...times have changed.

Yeah the lands really will save this set for me and I am really glad Cavern of Souls isn't mythic. (Just like I am glad Snapcaster isn't mythic.)

The fact that the dragon flies and Koth's mountains do not is very relevant considering Red is usually trying to race imo.

Tamiyo would be amazing if she cost 4 instead of 5.

    Amazing @ 3, OK @ 4, and awful @ 5.

Imagine her @ 3/4 when Rishadan Port was in standard...drool.

I think Rishadan Port is my favorite magic card to ever play with.

What the flying fuck at the Lands in this set man. Alchemist refuge. GreenBlue, tap, all nonland cards in your hand have flash this turn.

The lands are definitely the killer, I'm already planning out a RW humans deck with both Cavern of Souls and the RW land if I end up going to the Anaheim Gp next month (only gonna bother if I can earn some byes a qualifier in town on Sunday).

Might even stretch that out to standard since I think BW tokens is gonna get shitted on pretty hard, and I don't want to play Delver or Esper control.

And to follow on Welt, favorite Magic cards of all time for me are Necropotence (wry did that have to get banned) and Armageddon.

The red 4/4 flying haste dragon is awesome though.
They likely made it mythic due to the rarity of the ability (casting from exile). Its likely them testing the waters like with Tibalt. If it ends up being a safe card then we could seem them try to push the envelope more in the future. Sure the card by itself is weak, but in the long term it has potential. In Legacy I think it can break the control mirror since the mainly used removal Exiles the creature. You can pitch it to FoW/Misdirection early on then replay it when you have board control. Use it with Food Chain to create infinite mana (only for creature spells though). Use it with Moorland Haunt when it dies so you can replay it again.

tl;dr Yeah it looks weak, but the potential is there.

Kind of funny, Wizards officially posted up Cavern of Souls, and they said the reason they made it cause they needed an "answer" to how bad they screwed up on Snapcaster Mage.

I'll be real with you. We messed up with Snapcaster Mage.

I'm not going to sit here and look you in the eye and tell you that Snapcaster Mage is a fair Magic card. Nor am I going to blame any of my colleagues for the problem: I worked with Tiago Chan to design it, and by the time we realized exactly how powerful it was in concert with the abundance of one-mana cantrips in Standard, the card was already out the door. We knew it was something we were going to have to attack in order to keep Standard in check. The challenge was deciding how best to do that.

Well, it was either that or a colorless land that can turn into 4 mana counterspell.

That article is pretty funny to read. I'm sure we've all been in the position against someone who casts a flipped delver or a geist and have no way of getting ahead against mana leak + snapcaster + vapor snag. The author basically admits that they printed the land to counter the Delver deck in standard.

It's just funny that he says that they made a mistake with Snapcaster Mage and how it's such a powerful card, but then he goes onto say in the very last paragraph that this land is going to affect multiple formats and name drops FoW and Spell Snare, 2 legacy staples.

Temporal Mastery will very likely be banned in Legacy within the first week or two of release, otherwise the Miracle Mechanic isn't anymore broken then anything else in Legacy. My Reanimator deck has probably a 50% chance of getting Jin-Gitaxias out turn one, which in is downright retarded in every other format, but pretty much expected there.

Also, banning Brainstorm would mean bye bye Jace as well.

Brainstorm SHOULD be banned in legacy just to make the format more appealing.

So I sold my cards for $3,100 to the guy. He didn't even take the moxs out of the case to look at them. 30 minutes later he calls me and tells me they are fake(which they aren't) and says meet up and I'll show you. I tell him no and it's final and what we agreed upon. Says ok and he is going to lawyer up.

I doubt I should be worried about all this but it is bothering me. The comment is just an idle threat from what I can tell but it's got me paranoid.

If Brainstorm was a rare I would agree, but solely based on the virtue of being a common, I disagree. It's an essential card for the format that is actually cheap to pickup. And anyway you slice it financial forces do drive the game.

All Brainstorm does is let you see 3 $75 cards. Banning it just may make more non-blue decks better (lol slightly), which are cheaper to build.

Jesus, I remember during standard back in the day when we thought "all we have is shitty brainstorm" lololol. I want my tutors back x-X

Brainstorm is probably the best card in legacy? Agree? (If not Brainstorm, what? - Underground Sea / FoW / Basic Island?)

I wonder what the metagame would look like if Blue got banned from legacy.

There's just so much to hate in Blue.

What are some good deck ideas? I'm mainly looking for cheap and interactive. By interactive I mean more than, say, overrun with creatures. I don't care about colors, but I do have a fun red deck I use. So maybe not red. It would be for casual play. I also enjoy aggressive decks.

Keep in mind that I only play casually with friends. So, as far as deck ideas go, treat me like a long lost tribal village with limited exposure to the outside world.
