Yeah, I realized that right after I posted it lol
Yeah, I realized that right after I posted it lol
The place I go to is about to start having Block Constructed tournies soon so here's what I'm thinking of rolling with.
The only thing I'm technically missing are the Vexing Devils, but I have access to at least 2
4x Sulfur Falls
10x Island
10x Mountain
4x Vexing Devil
4x Invisible Stalker
4x Latch Seeker
4x Stonewright
4x Furor of the Bitten
4x Spectral Flight
4x Rush of Blood
4x Silver-Inlaid Dagger
4x Inquisitor's Flail
Not sure what I should put in sideboard but I might put in some Cavern of Souls for uncounterable, unblockable, hexproof Stalkers.
Also considering dropping 1 or 2 lands for something like Thunderous Wrath since everything is so cheap
Or Temporal Mastery for that matter lol
you are playing blue/red and your not including delver? I would throw delver in there if I were you, probably cut out the latch seeker.
He's running like 4 instant/sorceries... That is not even remotely close to even considering delver. Hellrider might also be a strong consideration. 24 lands is a lot for the curve in that deck. You should probably drop to 22 and run that souldbound 2/1 haste guy thing. He's pretty sweet.
Then he's not playing the deck he wants to build lol. Delver deck would end up being different than this altogether. Delver is probably a better deck to build regardless.
I tried shoving delver in and just didn't like the changes it needed. There are 4 instants, everything else currently is enchantments and equipment
-4 flail - 2 islands -4 Rush of Blood + 4 the 2/1 souldbound haste guy, + 4 Brimstone volleys + 2 Hellrider
Hellrider is such a fun card I really want to build a deck around him. I loved having hellrider in my limited pool at the DKA pre-release. BTW AVR prerelease sucked. I had tons of removal and great cards but I didn't draw any bombs or finishers so my deck kept just fizzling out because everyone else had multiple giant fucking creatures they kept dropping on me and every time I would steal one or deal with it another would come out. I had 4 death wind and 2 thunderbolt and 1 thunderous wrath amongst other removal spells!
I would cut Stonewrights for the soulbound flying guy.
Edit: Actually that's kinda dumb since you have 8 unblockable dudes and half the time they're just gonna take the 4 instead of letting Devil come out. I still don't think Stonewrights is worth playing, though. Maybe that 5 damage Miracle card for R?
Firebreathing on an invisible stalker is bananas. It's a solid 1 drop imo.
Brimstone is something I've thought about putting in, maybe in place of stonewright.
The way I've been playing this deck is that after a single piece of enchant / equip, furor always gives best damage / mana boost at 2:1 - then flail is minimum 3:4 damage:mana , easily going to 5:4 and rush is 3:3 to start, then 5:3. Flail and rush get better when dagger is available instead of the +2/+2s.
I have seem some nasty hellriders with tokens, but I'm not sure how he would be helping a lot in my 1 maybe 2 creature board. An additional blocker?
Also I haven't played a lot of serious magic so I think I'm just not seeing it.
You should be just playing your hand out with this style deck. Turn 1 stonewright, turn 2 stalker soulbounded, swing for 2, turn 3 latch seeker, turn 4 hellrider swing for 12, they answer your dudes the next turn volley them for a bunch.
I guess that keeps additional bodies on the board opposed to
1 dagger // if not stonewright
2 stalker
3 furor, dagger equip swing for 6
4 play/equip flail swing for 12
4 could also be furor, rush swing for 16 if perfect draw
If they answer your invisible stalker you lose. Tribute to hunger and liliana are in the format so that is kind of a blow out. So is rolling temblor. I really don't know much about block, but since there are limited sweepers, people will probably be running what they can.
I always seem to have issues playing against board wipe when I am playing an aggro deck. If he gets wiped how does he refill his hand to refill his board? It seems really weak to board wipe heavy control decks.
Just have to learn how not to overextend. And at least for right now in standard, Doomed Traveler and Flashing back lingering souls lets you recover from a wipe assuming you're running those colors.
Oftentimes if you can get away with keeping a card or two in your hand and delay the kill a turn, it can be worth it if you're both in the 4-5 mana range (before they could be in position to drop a wincon, which for most control decks are obviously in the 6-7 mana range).
So I'm seeing keep the stonewrights in so that I can have choice of sacs. I have 8 cards to handle 2 toughness. Side in wingcrafters if temblor becomes an issue?
There's also that 3/1 guy that hits your opponent for the # of humans you have in play. Idk how much of the creatures are humans tbh lol, just a thought.
Terminus is the nuts because it handles a lot of answers that aggro has to board wipes and cos of miracle. No spirit from Doomed Traveller, no undying, no moorland haunt. I played 6-7 games as U/W control on cockatrice last night against my friend's Humans deck and Terminus hands down won me half of those games cos you can miracle it before turn 4. A turn 4 DoJ when you're on the play can often be too slow.
Even against a player who doesn't overextend, Terminus > Gideon > Tamiyo is a backbreaking line of play.
