Well, yeah, but I've got 16 decks built right now, and I want to build a few more. It's just hard to keep track of which cards I want to go where. It's easier when I get them in smaller batches.

Any of you guys do Game Day? I managed to Top 8 mine, but got eliminated to the variance of magic against someone running Naya midrange that I had beaten in the swiss rounds. Playing Esper, I crushed Game 1.
Game 2 I got off a Planar Cleansing and then a Sphinx's for 6. I'm firmly in the driver's seat and begin drownyarding him while answering his threats as he's living off the top of his deck. I start 1 for 1-ing him since I'm at 6, but I pretty much have the game if I can find another Sphinx's. I rip land, land, land, land, land. He finally lands a Thundermaw and attacks me to 1. So, I have one draw step to find any answer of which I had quite a few. Of course, I draw a land and he wins. Next card... Sphinx's of course. Game 3 I mull down to 5. I make my land drops, but only have 1 white and he curves out perfectly while I have a verdict in hand.
I really wanted that playmat.![]()
I wanted to go to Gameday but I'm stuck on what deck I want to play next. I have no fucking idea. I'm thinking of some Boros Aggro but I want something fun that wins yet annoys the opponents.
idk what the rules are for what cards you can have, but I've got a fling deck that is particularly fun/nasty.
6 swamp
2 rakdos guildgates
16 mountain
(I just tweaked the land mix so im not sure how that will work)
1x Demonmail Hauberk
2x Reassembling Skeleton
2x Gang of Devils
2x Vexing Devil
1x Blood Artist
2x Rage Thrower
1x Zealous Conscripts
1x Slave of Bolas
1x Yoke of the Damned
2x Havengul Vampire
2x Molten Primordial
2x Mudbutton Torchrunner
4x Goblin Arsonist
1x Traitorous Blood
4x Act of Treason
4x Traitorous Instinct
4x Fling
People get all excited when they play their big game-ending creatures, and then my turn rolls around and I take that creature, attack them with it, and then throw it at them. Very fun. Works well in multiplayer, too.
That is a good start. As you begin to collect more cards and go for specific things for your deck, start to distill it down to the most important cards and try to eliminate 1 of's and 2 of's. Also you will want to get 2 more Rakdos Guildgates, 4 Dragonskull Summits, and 4 Blood Crypts that will make your mana much more consistent and prevent you from getting stuck with red cards in hand and swamps on the battlefield.
The rule of thumb is that cards you only have 1 of in your deck should be game enders or special case cards that you only want to see rarely if the game goes too long. cards that you have 2 of in a deck are one step up from the 1 of cards, you want to see them a little bit more often but not all the time. 3 of cards you want to see almost every game but might be slightly lower priority than another card so they can get cut by 1. 4 of cards are cards you want to see every game all the time as often as possible.
Edit: Also you are going to want to build in an alternative wincon either into main or in the sideboard since the steal creature > fling strategy has a hard time dealing with decks with no creatures or decks with tons of little tiny insignificant creatures (aggro)
Took 10 minutes and threw together a R/G/B zombie deck for a friend to take to FNM last night. Standard zombie creature base with Deathrite Shamans and Rancor's thrown in and she ended up going 3-1 and got 5th. I might tweak the deck a little bit to strengthen it up since it didn't do too bad for throwing it together so quickly.

I'll just leave this here.

The cards are real, but belong to some crazy collector. They were not found in a safe (mysterious safe contents is something trending on Reddit lately).
Anyone still playing? Wouldn't mind testing online a bit with cockatrice.
I still play and am all hyped about prerelease tomorrow. I'm more about limited though so don't know how much of a test partner I would be for constructed.
i play, i've bought quite a bit of gate crash, have about 7 decks built between the new stuff and the older stuff i bought off a friend for cheap.
i do like cockatrice and have it installed but dont have any decks built on it since reformatting my pc.
and i dont ever play at local events or anything, usually just here at home with a few friends, so i dont really know about the different formats. i know they exist, and only certain sets are usable in certain formats, but beyond that im clueless
I am excited about the pre-release this saturday. Playing Rakdos hoping to get either borros or orzhov as my second guild pack.
DGM is a pretty big disappointment to me. :/ So bulky...
With the release of DGM, what do you guys think the dual land prices will fall to?
Azorius! Hoping for Dimir or Boros assist.
Got a starter pack of Magic as a wedding present. We are kind of enjoying it, but don't really understand the rules for combat at all. Any place to get easy instructions? Also, any suggestions for beginners?
Yeah, it has a very "Dark Ascension" feel to it.
If they follow the same pattern as most other recent duals (Mirrodin fast lands, Innistrad duals) they'll drop down a few more bucks from where they currently are, spike up once the new block starts, crash when they rotate out of standard, then climb up over several years.
I'm not sure what comes in starter decks nowadays, but you can check this out. Also, a lot of people have recommended picking up Duels of the Planeswalkers to become familiar with how the game works.
DGM is pretty lame really outside of like 2 hatebears for legacy and my boy Ral finally dropping onto some cardboard. More chances at shocks is never bad although. I myself am not really as excited for this prerelease as I was for the last few.
