Denver should be a really good area since that is where Conley Woods and LSV live and play now.

Yeah, the store locator found me a nice palce to play. Its about a 40 minute drive into Memphis but it beats my other options.
I didn't realize how fortunate I am to have 200 person FNMs only a couple miles away
Considering buying into legacy now. Waiting on when SCG will be back in the area so I can have a target date. But there's also a weekly tournament at my shop so I'm not opposed to building earlier than that.
Aside from keeping an eye on eBay for deals, anyone have any tips that might not immediately thought of? Considering garage sale hunting but that seems like I should do it more for fun and not expecting anything at all ever
I check TCG Player and ebay best offers religiously.
"Best Offers" can be pretty nice, especially if you find a guy who has multiples of your wants. My best steal I got my two Ajanis for $4 each when they were $6.50, two Purphoros for $7 when they were $11 with $2 shipping after haggling with a guy via best offers.
Been in a stint where bastards won't go down a couple bucks on Stormbreath Dragons- I need two to finsih my Red Devotion.
Yeah FNM is pretty decent around here, I've checked out a couple nights and loved it. Problem is its just Booster Draft which is fun but no way to play any decks I've built :/ The other two nights they do have free play or tournaments are not good for me as they're early on on weeknights. Thought maybe I'd find one or two people to get with casually from time to time to play a deck against
A great option if you just want to play whatever you feel (we use it for fast playtesting) is Cockatrice. It's a free online magic game where you keep track of board state yourself. Basically it manages your deck shuffling / peeking / hand / board and logs it in chat.
I hear the randoms you play with in there are not fun, idk I only play with my friends

Nice one man, good looks. I wonder how effective it is or if anyone has tried playing using something like Google Hangouts
We skype while playing cockatrice so we just say the things we are doing. Much better than text chatting about what step you're in / passing priority / etc
I guess you could do the same with physical cards and something like google hangouts.
You have to get really lucky to find a holy grail MTG collection for cheap at a garage sale/Craigslist. Not to say that it doesn't happen, but a lot of people are onto the value of MTG cards nowadays.
I built RUG Delver 2 years ago by selling standard cards on Ebay/MTGSalvation/MOTL and then buying what I needed whenever I saw good deals. I got 2 of my Goyfs from someone for 130 cos he needed quick cash.
I also did a fair amount of trading when good deals came up. One guy really wanted an UNL Volcanic Island I had and traded me 2 Revised ones for it. I also traded a pack foil DIS Breeding Pool and DKA Sorin for 2 Force of Wills. This was right when DKA came out so the shockland reprint wasn't announced yet and Sorin was like 40 bucks at the time. These types of deals don't come up often, but it takes a certain amount of tenacity since it's hard to find someone who is willing to do Eternal for Standard without wanting a huge premium.
Most importantly you should proxy up several decks to find one that you really like before investing in the cards.
What are you looking to pay? I have 2 that I wouldn't mind selling/trading away.
Anyone else do Born of the Gods prerelease last night? This Theros block is fun as shit.
I went to the release event this morning. I'm not really feeling this set. The gimmicks feel too gimmicky and there's just a whole lot of bullshit going on. That coupled with the lack of goblins means I'm probably not going to be getting back into Magic again for a while.
Had to miss prerelease this go round, but getting ready for a string of PTQs starting in a couple weeks - still trying out various deck ideas
Prerelease was fun. The set is fun. I totally bombed it though going 2-3worst prerelease performance in a while. But it was fun at least I just had a bad card pool and misplayed a bit.
I got bored with Theros about 2 months in and Born of the Gods seems like more of the same. The set is fun, but it's not something that I care to draft once a week like I did during the RTR sets.
I also got screwed by the Modern B&R announcement since I play(ed) Jund.![]()
Didn't bother with the prerelease. I haven't really much cared for playing in general though. Maybe once BnG starts up I'll be more interested. We'll see.
Anyone here have 2 Voice of Resurgence they're looking to trade/sell?
Forgot to post this. MTGO Cube game I was in a couple of weeks ago went pretty hilariously:
Turn 1: I suspend Search for Tomorrow. Opponnent plays plains
Turn 2: I play Rofelos. He plays steam vents tapped.
Turn 3: Get land from search for tomorrow, cast channel, Entwine Tooth and Nail for Emrakul + Kozilek
Turn 3 Emrakul + Kozilek is pretty good it turns out.
