fair enough, that's pretty much what i expected. i've been piecing together a mill deck and snagged a couple of those out of the dollar rares box on a whim, but i'll probably sideline them for something a little more efficient. oh if only glimpses weren't $20+

Here is a budget mono blue mill deck i built a while ago if you wanted some ideas, it cost under 5$ for me to build at the time and it is still relatively cheap.

    creatures:
    4x hedron crab
    2x jace's archivist
    1x jace's phantasm
    3x fog bank
    1x snapcaster mage

    spells:
    4x thought scour
    4x archive trap
    4x ponder
    4x jace's erasure
    4x visions of beyond
    4x gitaxian probe
    1x increasing confusion
    1x lightning greaves
    2x elixir of immortality
    1x brainstorm

    lands:
    3x shelldock isle
    4x evolving wilds
    13x islands

Basically the idea of this deck is to get out at least one jace's erasure out and then cantrip the opponent to death. In order to survive the deck uses hedron crabs and fog bank, usually the crabs chump block larger creatures late game since surviving is most important. The "finisher" of the deck is the jace's archivist and visions of beyond, ive seen other versions use teferi's puzzle box but i don't have those and i built my deck to not be obnoxiously annoying. The deck is far from optimized, as i know brainstorm is crazy with jaces erasure but i havent gotten around to getting more copies (a lot of my decks are filled with a playset of it and i dont have enough for this deck).

More expensive things like the snapcaster mage are nonessential, i had it sitting in my binder and i didnt want to really trade it anyway so it got put in this monstrosity.

Anyway, this is just my personal mill build, i also play Oona, queen of the mill in edh too, so im a fan of the archetype but there are only so many ways to approach it.

you can force archive trap, but the spells are often dual-edged swords. Usually stuff like "destroy target creature. its owner searches for a basic land and puts it on the battlefield." Might still be worth it, as those spells usually have lower mana cost or other supplementary effects to make up for the benefit to the opponent.

I am having serious magic withdrawals right now. I haven't had a chance to play since I moved. I need to get into town to the LGS (local being relative, closest game store is ~35 miles from my house) and play some magic. At least there is a good modern/legacy scene at that store from what I have heard.

I'm actually the opposite. I haven't had the desire to play for several weeks, and drafting core set hasn't really done anything to rekindle that desire. Also considering cashing out my modern stuff with the changes to the PTQ system and all standard PTs.

I have become addicted to cube drafting on MTGO. I hate MTGO other than that. Please, bring it back Q_Q

Not a fan of that blue mythic. It should be rare at best.

It's only mythic because it's one of the Generals from the Commander decks coming out this year.

I'm so ready for this spoiler season. My tournament opportunities have been few and far between since early this year when going to a few PTQs and a SCG. GP San Antonio will be the standard created by this Khan's rotation and it will be time to start brewing

Pulled a Chain Veil from draft tonight. Tried running Red/Black. Got fucked on 3 games with no Swamps and obvious ways to win/stay alive via Lifelink and black spells but no way to get them out. Oh well, it was the first time I ever drafted, so going 3-5 (1W,2L) doesn't really upset me at all.

Mull'd to 6 all three games. Was running 10/7 R/B because of mostly red creatures and Brood Keeper (which seems to be pretty epic in drafts).

Manascrew is just part of the game. Happens to everyone.

How many black cards/black mana symbols were you running? Pretty hard to support BB spells with only 7 swamps. Also, sometimes you just gotta go down to 5.

3 Eternal Thirsts (1B), 1 Sign (BB), 1 Ulcerate (B), 1 Leeching Sliver (1B). Everything else was Red. Thirsts were for extending the game and triggering Brood Keeper. There wasn't enough removal or burn in my pod so that kind of hurt and I was already deep in red/black by the time I felt like I should have switched gears.

Not sure if I'll go to another draft though, not there at least. We didn't start until 7:30 with a 7:00 time posted and it took 3 hours to play 3 rounds...

Also depending on your deck you might want to bump up to 18 or 19 lands, 17 is good for a 40 card deck but it isn't the magic end all number.
