Pretty sure I didn't mention I only shuffle once or twice, I'm not that stupid. I still shuffle 15+ times after putting my cards back in like I stated I do above. Seems perfectly legal at that point.

Ya if you do 15+ real shuffles then I don't care what you did prior to that, you now have a random deck. If there's any tricks to your shuffling that specifically prevents 'clumping' then there's something wrong. Bad land will randomly happen, and lessening the odds at bad land via shuffling is no bueno

All this land shuffling talk is fun but I still need ideas on how to make my deck more consistent. I want to win 5,000 dollars!

5,000 hours of paper and modo.

Good basic method of shuffling before presenting is: side-shuffle 3x, pile shuffle, side-shuffle no less than seven times, and then present for them to cut/shuffle. Done correctly your Kendall distance is .5 (pretty fucking random) and you have counted your deck to avoid presenting an illegal deck. Casual matchups can be looser with house rules but still it's a good habit to shuffle correctly in all levels of magic.

Fetchlands first then scrylands if your meta supports that.

Speaking of shuffling, there's an investigation going on into the player who won the last standard SCG Open. Supposedly, he was shuffling his opponents' decks in a way that he would stack the top of their decks full of non-lands and cause them to mulligan into oblivion. Here's an example about 1 minute in on this video: http://www.twitch.tv/scglive/c/5333218

If you watch how he shuffles, he's side shuffling but only randomizing the bottom 3/4 or so of his opponent's deck. While doing this, he looks at the bottom card of his opponent's deck and, if it's a non land, will slide it to the top. It's hard to see, but here's a gif of it slowed down where you clearly see him slide a dragon mantle out of his opponent's deck. There's absolutely no reason to do something like this unless you are up to something shady. http://gfycat.com/ParallelShortGemsbuck

I can only imagine how aggressively he does this without multiple cameras on him

Mash shuffling, where the deck is split into approximately halves and then "mashed" together, can go either way depending on how skillful you are at mashing cards. If your mashes are tight enough to be almost one-card-upon-another but with some minor imperfections, then you essentially replicate a riffle shuffle.
this is what i meant by "mesh"

guess i just need to do it a few more times for more serious shit.

Kind of surprised that there hasn't been a perfected shuffling machine that works with sleeved cards.

A better question is why aren't there shuffling machines that work on paper cards? Any current brand shuffler mangles the shit out of any paper-based card.

I was very into BoW for a time and two minutes just isn't enough time to shuffle 240 cards by hand. It was a neat deck too

I'm guessing 240Card Blind Pick-Up is probably a recipe for disaster as well.

i decided on an impulse to split another box with a friend. i probably should've played the lottery today instead of buying cards:

i am pretty happy with my half of the box

... Left side is yours or all of those fetches were in your half?

    Either way, crazy box.

yeah Khans has been wired about pulls, some boxes are all of the money however some cases might just scrape the $200 mark

those are all mine. my friend had a few fetches in his half as well, mire/strand/heath iirc. that box was absolutely ridiculous (there were some other notable rares to boot; dig through time, a couple jeskai ascendancy, ashcloud, siege rhino, etc.)

i'm tempted to swap the foil toward another box, but i think i'll just use that to try and fill out my fetch playsets.

Sweet pulls. I still need 3 deltas to finish my playset.

If you want foil deltas, sit to my left in a draft. Seriously, 3 different people sitting to my left have pulled a foil delta.

Been following this whole thing since this past weekend. There were multiple reports of him doing it throughout the tournament, as well as archived footage from other tournaments as far back as 2009 where he was reportedly doing it (including a recent SCG Invitational where his opponent suspected it & had the judge do the shuffling for almost the entire match).

The other thing he has going against him is that this guy is a real asshole to his opponents. Unlike Alex Bertoncini, who goes out of his way to be nice and make people like him while he cheats. Different methods, I suppose.
