I feel like cruise should be banned in modern for sure. It's fine in standard, for now anyway but I can't imagine e Fate Reforged will add anything g that makes it degenerate there. It should probably go from legacy too, but I think it will stay (though a legacy ban won't surprise me).

I do t play any of those formats so those are just outsider observations.

Agreed with pretty much all of this. It's fine in Legacy since, while cruise is powerful, other decks are doing things that are just as potent.

Since I had today off of work, I figured I'd clean/sort all the cards I've had lying around since the wife has been nagging. What I thought would take an hour tops took most of the day haha.

It's that time again.. reveals for Fate Reforged start today on the mothership. I hafta say I'm both psyched and a little concerned. This standard season has been amazingly fun and diverse so far, and I hope the new set doesn't ruin that dynamic.

That said, Ugin looks like a a great sweeper/finisher addition for control decks. Even if it is a bit expensive.

I'm probably just a jaded hipster Legacy player, but Abzan everything and various Hornet Queen decks are fun and diverse?

I'll agree the various whip decks & Azban Aggro have filtered to the top of the high-level tournaments, but there's a lot more than than around - Mardu mid/control, Ascendancy Aggro/tokens, u/w Heroic, & Jeskai burn are also very good, plus U/W Control seems to be on the rise now that people are metagaming Hushwing Gryff to combat all the ETB effects.

BTW since you're a legacy player I have to ask - what's your thoughts on the potential for Treasure Cruise to get banned (both in legacy AND modern)?

Maybe it's just confirmation bias, but whenever I turn on a SCG stream or bird a game at my LGS, I just see Siege Rhinos staring at each other haha. It reminds me of the RTR standard format where every deck was splashing green for Thragtusk.

Probably not in Legacy and probably yes in Modern.

Legacy is a much slower moving format in terms of the metagame, and there are cards/decks that Treasure Cruise is just dead against. For example, you do not want Treasure Cruise in your opening hand against Sneak and Show. Plus, IMO brainstorm is a much more powerful card than Treasure Cruise and that's been fine in Legacy since forever.

In modern, I'd say it has a very high probability of getting banned. It has warped the format much moreso than it has in Legacy. Plus, Wizards keeps a closer eye on Modern than it does on Legacy since it's their chosen eternal format for premiere events.

Speaking of Eternal, I sold a bunch of fetches and other KTK fodder and picked these up over the weekend. They're not in the best of shape, but I'm ok with that.

It doesn't get much better than Beta Bolt. Though I do like the foil version of that, as well.

Beta Chaos Orb or Beta Icy Manip is pretty high tier too.

I have a bunch of random lightning bolts at work. I've looked at pictures online but I'm not 100% sure which edition they are. Any sure fire rip offs that they're beta? They look really similar to those in your picture Xerlic.

Ah, nvm. Don't know why I haven't noticed before but it's black border on alpha/betas and not on 3rd/Revised. And I've definitely got white borders. Damn.

The Chris Rush Beta bolt is pretty sweet. Several people in my store seem to prefer the textless MPR foil bolts, which I think look ugly as sin. In general, I don't use foils since they warp so easily, but I have to say I prefer how the old foils look. Something about that shooting star...

Yeah Geno, these are definitely betas. I have tons of revised/4th bolts. The black border is what will cost you lol.

A textless, full art card which is better than its alternative does not exist. IMO only filth play full art cards like CC/Bolt/Damnation/etc...

Not trying to sound like I dick, but I can't imagine any player buying that particular collection whole, there's simply nothing exciting enough to justify purchasing all of it (no duals/legacy staples etc.) best bet imo would be to try and sell it to a shop. You probably won't get as much as you would selling it piecemeal but it would be more likely to sell.

How much do you think a shop would give for it? I asked about original duals/legacy staples and fetch lands too and was really surprised that there were none for that asking price. Most of it is unstable price wise so it isn't worth nearly that much.

Hardly nothing. Anyone who paid remotely close to what he is asking would be a massive sucker. Give me $300-400 worth of cards and I could trade/rip people off for almost all of that in 3 months of FNM.

Half of whatever they (the store) are using to price things by if you want credit. If you are looking for cash maybe about 30% of the value of what they use. If you are looking to move a collection the best bet is to wait for a GP or an Open that is near you and bring it with you there most of the bigger stores will give you about 50% of their stores price in cash and about 70%-80% in credit.
