I would play Azbhan Control.
I would play Azbhan Control.
Control's matchup against Rally feels atrocious since you dont interact with their combo in any meaningful way :/
You just play hallowed moonlight or whatever and they lose immediately.
game called Magic Duels popped up on xbone, seems to be F2P, probably will sell packs like Hearthstone but I'm just speculating
Pro Tour Origins is live: http://www.twitch.tv/magic. Hall of Fame announcements later today (after rd 3 i think)
Just play mono red.
Magic today, such skill so intensive.
Took 3rd at Baton Rouge SCG Regionals with Abzan Control. Matchup against Rally was horrendous, as expected, lost miserably to it round 1. Would've played it round 8, but we were able to draw into top8. Played mono-red 4 times, roflstomped it all 4 times. Won zero dice rolls over the 10 rounds, sucked pretty bad lol. Picked up a cool 425 check (split top8) and a nice trophy. Not a bad weekend.
Put a couple hallowed moonlight in the board.
Even the game that i was sitting there Drown, Languish, Abzan Charm and Hallowed, I ended up blowing it on a Lilianna -3 bringing back sac guy because Lilianna of the Veil in standard is kind of busted and just valued me out of the game... Its good but its not THE answer we need.
The most enjoyable decks I ever played (my DCI# is extremely low to show my age) in Standard:
1. Replenish
2. Red/White Sligh (It had a name, but I can't remember...SOMEONE HELP! It ran like Shadow creatures, bolts, Cursed scroll, swords, chain lightning, white knight, geddon)
3. Survival/Living Death
4. ProsBloom
5. 1 week of Academy/Jar
Edit: On second thought, deck #2 was an extended deck because it ran Plateau at the time. Maybe the name was just Jank, originally.
I really, really miss the days when Enchantments were powerful and important.
The absolute best era of standard was when Masticore/Rishadan Port were the top 2 money cards. Without Googling, I think the decks were:
*Replenish
*Mono U Morphling
*Stompy Green (Fuck Plow Under)
*Mono Red (always a thing)
*Tinker/Key
*Chimera?
Well, 1 week's worth of local tournaments at the time. I remember trading like 1 Mox Diamond for 4 Academy when it skyrocketed (and then plummeted orz)
I thought they emergency banned it before the release? The RnD team got their asses chewed out for that block...
Nope, I can remember playing it at least twice in a single week at tournaments.
That block had to have to most powerful cards ever printed outside of Alpha/Beta/Unl. Magic was a hell of a lot better back then.
