I don't care for it either. I only got it for a friend that asked me to after I showed him. I did get the Eldrazi one you showed. That one is great looking in person.

Did you manage to get any of the FtV sets? Apparently people were camping out overnight on Saturday night just to buy them (at MSRP). They had Angels, 20 & Annihilation (lol).

20 at MSRP would be a hell of a score, but a bargain on JTMS isn't worth losing a night's sleep over. imagine camping out only to be stuck with nothing left but annihilations!

I knew one of the people working the booth and he said the Sunday allotment for 20 was a total of 4. I was just hoping to get Angels at MSRP, 20 would have been pure bonus. Like you said though, no way I was going to wait in line that long.

It's a bad situation and I see both sides. Not only is it hard to tell what should be expected, it's hard to tell who is at fault. If the guy was shuffling normally and not aggressively and a random sleeve snagged, then could it just as easily happened to Cook? There are a lot of expensive cards in legacy, should I just not sign up in case a fluke knocks 25% of a cards value? What if my opponent has those ridiculous basics?

For the longest time, I played with all Guru lands. I stopped doing this and just use APACs now that people have started shuffling their opponnent's deck as opposed to just cutting it like back in the day.

If you have the card on hand aren't proxies allowed? Just keep the proxy in your deck and swap out when you actually play it.

I think there is a limit to proxies and isn't that only allowed in Vintage? I have no idea since I have the cards, but I rarely play those formats any longer.

No, proxies aren't allowed at sanctioned events like SCG Opens and GPs. Also, even if it were allowed and you're playing legacy and need to proxy every card worth something, you'd have half a deck of proxies lol.

I don't know if that would be fine for actual tourney play. For probably FNM and other less serious events, sure.

finally finished in the money at legacy today with a 4-1, apparently having a raging hangover is the key to success. split top 4 for an $85 payout, i'm pretty happy with that. lucky for me, my friend runs 12-post and got off to a good start, so that helps clear all the miracles decks out of the X-0 pairings, haha.

my only loss came from grixis tempo, once again confirming that anything running delver is the bane of my existence. turn 1 DRS followed by the pyromancer/therapy combo next turn is just heinous.

i also made my personal dumbest play ever. during game 1 of the mirror match i misdirected a reanimate thinking i was gonna steal the reanimation all clever like, but actually i just gave the dude a griselbrand instead. i laughed and congratulated him on witnessing the dumbest thing i've ever done in a game of magic and scooped out of shame. oh well, i blew him out in games 2 and 3, so that helped to make up for it.

Any thoughts on how to improve this?

I haven't played MTG since 2010 and I'm trying to get back into it (standard.) I'm only currently using cards from Tarkir block moving forward in preparation of Theros and M15 phasing out.

Unfortunately for decks like this moving forward, Elvish Mystic or some variation was not reprinted in Origins. Your top end is too big and your ramp is too invisible. Atarka's Command is horrible in a deck like this. I would start off with a base of:

    2x Shaman of Forgotten Ways
    4x Whisperwood Elemental
    4x Rattleclaw Mystic
    3x Nissa's Pilgrimage
    3x See the Unwritten
    3x Den Protector
    4x Deathmist Raptor

then fill out your top-end with whatever ur favorite beater is. Can be new Eldrazi, Dlord, etc.

Manabase should probably be 4x Wooded Foothills, 2x Haven (if you go havens, play some number of DLords, Ugin, and maybe Thunderbreak Regent), 4x new GR Tango Land, and then a 3:1 of Forests to Mountains, totaling 23-24 lands.

Meh, I feel like that just means Jund will show up again since its Infect matchup is really good.

A slivers deck also T8 the open and seeing it on stream was a treat. There was this one game where he attacks his Abzan opponent and the guy only blocks 1 creature. The slivers guy fetches for an Overgrown Tomb and turns on Sedge Sliver. Abzan guy reads Sedge Sliver and starts packing up his cards. So Funny. RTFC bro.

That is probably one of the prettiest lands I've seen.

yeah, the new lands are pretty for sure. shame about the foil/border/not quite full art/absurd rarity, though.
