So Zoo (Modern) wins the SCG Open AND GP Porto Alegre today. Never would have expected one winning, let alone two.
So SCG just flipped Legacy a big middle finger.

At least on the east coast we have an open coming up in November and another one in February. Sucks for people out west, though.
I've long since accepted that the West Coast will forever be ignored but Jesus Christ SCG really took a hot steaming shit all over Legacy. Pay wall is a joke as well for any competitive player as well. A handful of boosters and swag doesn't pay for the gas, the lodging, the registration, the food, the hookers, or the blow.
Ghost_Wheel22 sounds like my type of player...going to GP ATL in 2 weeks!? lmao
I can neither confirm nor deny stimulate-enhanced sex with strangers in a hotel room following a very successful PTQ back in 2000. A hotel room that may or may not had roughly 7 boxes of Invasion cracked and slathered everywhere and probably 3" deep on the floor.
Good times. If that happened.
Now all I can imagine is two dudes Eiffel Towering a chick while playing magic on her back.

Do these people not think Modern will do the same thing as Legacy? Goyf has been reprinted multiple times and still costs more than most duals printed decades ago. Only 3 lands cost more and Tropical is the same, the rest are cheaper.
BooHoogland is at least consistent at both attitude and ability to making terrible deck decisions.
I didn't read or see the original comments but apparently Travis Woo made some comments on his personal twitch account that were so egregious that Channel Fireball suspended him indefinitely as a contributor today.
Anyone else hear about this?
Nope. I would like details though, haha. I can't stand the decks he plays, but I like his content approach.
Edit: Seems it was something Holocaust related.
Oh geez I actually turned TWoo's twitch on yesterday and maybe I missed something crazy right before I tuned in
He did not deny the holocaust, he more than once said millions of Jewish people died in the holocaust.
What he did do is explain why he read Mein Kampf to get a non Westernized version of what the Germans as a people were thinking and going through. He actively knew it was a pro German version of events and said that it is hard to find a neutral version of any event in history. You get one side and the other.
From what I saw, the viewers were being dumb and hyperbolic - but again maybe I missed the beginning of the talk.
Is anyone from here going to be at GP SeaTac this weekend?
I'll be there all 3 days. Still debating on what I want to play for the main event. Currently leaning towards Miracles, but also considering options like Storm or Dragon Stompy (I think I'm overestimating Shardless with that one).
Yeah, Magic tournaments are VERY rarely worth flying to. Prize support for large tournaments has been almost the exact same since 1999.
Breakdown: Spend $400-600 on a plane ticket and $200-300 on hotel and $100 at least on food for a 1/1200 chance at winning $4,000 or something?
Another way to put it: Would you ever bet $1,000 on a 1/1200 chance of winning $4,000? Hell no. No one intelligent would ever do that. Even Vegas gives you a %46-48% chance of betting $1,200 and winning $1,200. Magic has way too many variables that are luck based to increase those chances from 1/1200 to anything much higher. It is almost always based on you vs. # entrants at that level.
Nooooo, ty....
Pro Tour 1st place was almost the same for 20 years. It is like inflation or popularity increase didn't exist, at all.
Hasbro's tournament support vs. original WoTC was already declining by the time I left Wizards (used to work as a tournament director for the retail chain). I'm not surprised that it hasn't shifted much at all.
Went 0-2 drop playing Painter in Vintage. Only dropped because I need to sleep to prepare for a long day of playing Miracles tomorrow. Round 1 opponent had a Bob Ross playmat which was awesome.
Round 1 vs Dredge 1-2.
Round 2 vs BUG Fish 1-2 because I punted game 3 with Tinker. I went for the combo instead of the safe route with Blightsteel and got blown out by Decay that I spaced on.
Had a lot of fun though!
Edit: We had 47 players sign up for sanctioned Vintage which was awesome.
