I think they just ruined the format with the Twin banning. Twin kept a lot of decks in check. How the fuck did they ban twin and nothing from Grishoal?
Modern is just fake Legacy, anyway. W/e

Yeah I don't think they know what is going on. Now Tron decks are going to be oppressive and boggles will probably have a resurgence. Meh oh well. I guess I will build a co co deck of some sort.
I'm a closet Tron fan but even I don't look forward to a year of nothing but Tron and Jund.
I understand the idea behind banning Twin (since alot of the format had to be built around/for it, and almost every deck touching blue felt obligated to run it), but it's removal is likely going to cause more problems then leaving it in.
lol'ed hard when i saw the update. reinforces my decision to never waste my time/money buying into modern, where good decks aren't allowed to exist. shame i didn't get rid of the splinter twin i pulled from MM15 while it was still worth $10, oh well.
tbh i am kinda sad ghetto tinfins didn't get crippled though, mostly because i've been waiting for GV to come back down before i build out the real version for legacy.
Anyone go to the prerelease for Oath of the Gatewatch? How was it? Any good cards in that set besides the expedition lands? That is funny to hear about new modern bannings people should just expect this type of thing for modern at this point.
I went to 2 flights for OGW prerelease. Got my ass kicked by Reid in one lol.
BFZ was very synergistic where a lot of cards fit into one particular archetype. I think Oath brings it back to the fundamentals of how limited should be aka BREAD. The removal is much better in this set than in the previous one.
Now that prerelease is over, I can say Wizards can go right ahead and fuck off. The only silver lining to this is I can go back to using my Tarns and Rainforests in Legacy.

I learned early on that Legacy is where technical skill is rewarded, Modern is a game where there are no winners, and Standard is only good for drawing new players and rehab from Legacy burnout.
And cracking packs is for suckers 90% of the time.
This is literally my Magic desk from about 3 hours before the prerelease. Planned to play it going forward....didn't even finish sleeving lol.

By going with beta land it almost makes up for making me bridge shuffle Storm.
beta basics and AN mountains, excellent work gentlemen.
eagerly awaiting my next round of duals, i've got 3 seas and my second copies of trop and badlands all in the mail right now. seems like it's a good time to be invested in legacy, lots of disgruntled modern players looking to make the jump over now, lol.
also, i retroactively feel better about my MM2015 pulls now, i had a couple of eye of ugins sitting in my bulk rare pile that are suddenly worth $35 a piece.
I have about 100 packs on tab at my LGS from winnings over the past 2 years or so. I know if I ever redeem them my wife will come home one day to me sitting in our living room surrounded by wrappers.
That Eldrazi deck blew up like crazy. I built it as an alternate when everything was dirt cheap and accidentally quadrupled what I paid for it, but I guess it'll be my main until I find a new deck to play lol. Grats on the duals.
Well, thankfully I still have my affinity deck built. I had put together twin for playtesting for SCG Regionals but now I think imma convert it to storm or USA control.
I think I will just suit up Grixis control, but man that deck....you either overwhelmingly win or you just get absolutely crushed...
Damn I should have invested in the RG Karn cards earlier. I have mono blue Karn built but I lack the cards for the other version. I need to pick up 1 Ugin though still.
one pack's worth of SoI leaked today, all available on reddit/MTGS/etc.
of note, envelop gets a pretty huge upgrade. invasive surgery -- U -- counter target sorcery, if you have 4+ card types in your graveyard, it does a surgical extraction effect on the countered spell.
looks like a great sideboard option for legacy, and i could definitely see something like delver builds including it maindeck.
i am definitely not at all looking forward to having my exhumes/reanimates blown out with that, guess i won't be cutting animate dead from my list anytime soon!
Holy shit, I hope someone else here is watching the Pro Tour and just saw the back to back top decks LSV got to make top 8
