Unban twin is the obvious answer as well as unbanning pod.
Unban twin is the obvious answer as well as unbanning pod.
Sometimes when things get this complex we just need to get:
Spoiler: show
Which is stupid because they just kill you before they even get to 7 mana most of the time.
Blood Moon works, but only if you can resolve it before they get a Wastes on board and can deal with the threats already played. So like you said, not fast enough.
Edit: Worship and Ensnaring Bridge are other specs people are buying against the Eldrazi deck.
I don't care if the deck dominates for a long time, just leave the ban list the fuck alone. One more ban to a top modern deck and I'm out of the format.
So I bought 16 Simian Spirit Guide Saturday night off MTGMintcard for $4.39 each. They hit $19.99 each!
They should also unban Stoneforge Mystic in modern. That would really shake things up. Or better yet just get rid of the ban list for one season then revisit the meta at the end and see what happens. Just to keep everyone on their toes.
Eh, keep Jace banned. The rest would be interesting to watch.
give blue access to powerhouse cantrips like preordain?! and let's not even consider the sheer insanity of bringing back a clearly broken spell like ponder.
Legacy suffers from inevitable aging problems but it's still hands down the better format. Modern doesn't reward smart deck construction or deep knowledge of mechanics like Legacy either. At least Standard can claim rapidly changing blocks and new mechanics for shitty seasons. Modern only plays and smells terrible despite the constant floggings by wotc to push it forward.
Personally I would rate Cube > Legacy > Vintage* > Standard > EDH > Modern > Pauper
*Probably doesn't count since virtually zero populated events but fuck watching games is amazeballs.
This.
Modern is the most linear of formats. All of the top decks of the format only care about executing their gameplan and dont give fuck all what the opponent is doing.
Control is neutered and doesnt have the tools to fight explosive draws. How is a blue deck supposed to beat eye into mimics and endless ones? It's like playing against charbelcher without the force of will or daze to interact.
I enjoy watching Modern at the Pro level because of how radically unbalanced it ends up every damn time, but haven't even remotely considered playing the format since they banned Pod.
Most days when I play is really just Draft or Legacy, since it generally requires no more then a few bucks each expansion to update my primary deck (Death and Taxes)
Wayne England passed away this morning.![]()
after a 3+ month hiatus due to weekends being locked up by holiday celebrations, birthdays, and football season, i can finally go back to playing legacy on sundays. looking forward to putting my more-or-less fully built (and now fully-accessorized!) deck through the paces this weekend.
next, the difficult decision on whether to go for style points and convert it to JP nonfoil over the next year or so (i've already got a bunch of odds and ends), or build something else.
Always go JP. Always.
