I can give a decent writeup on that then, assuming by control you'll do a black base shell with other color of most likely blue?

The deck my GF runs works with the following engine:
2 drops: Bearer of Silence (works great to force sacrifices or as a 2/1 flier for early damage)
a few eldrazi mimics/fathom feeders (mimic helps get damage in, feeder is good for the exile(ingest, and deathtouch) and late game as a draw engine)
Transgress the mind - taking away any threats and popping cards into exile

3 drops: Matter reshaper (must have, awesome card) and some wasteland stranglers (take those exiled cards from transgress/ingest and give things -3/-3)
4 drop: thought knot seer - dirty card
    5 drop: reality smasher
6: dragonlord silumgar (definitely a debatable card - its her favorite card and wanted to make it work)

The deck eats through creature based decks (not rally) by gaining huge tempo with each play.

You'll want some painful truths for draw, some kill cards...whether complete disregard or murderous cuts etc.

You can run blighted fen as a good source of colorless mana, having an uncounterable sacrifice effect

Yeah I mostly play blue and black, now should I throw in some wastes? What's a good ratio?

Wastes are bad, but you can use lands like Llanowar wastes (black for 1 life or colorless normally) corrupted crossroads, haven of spirit dragon if running silumgar, ruins of Oran reef, etc

finally managed to crush the miracles matchup today at the local weekly, and made top 4 to boot. archetype of endurance was definitely the MVP in that matchup.

the guy i played was super salty from the very start of the match, and i managed to extract the most hateful look of disgust when i replied to his post-match 'well if we lived in a parallel universe where i won the game, i wouldn't have lost' rationalizations with a 'yeah, but none of that actually happened. oh well, good game'. feels fucking good, man.

second place moment: the look of utter despair from the shardless player when i misdirected his ancestral visions.

Glad I bought mine for my Dragon Stompy deck earlier this year. $40 each was hard to justify, but I can't imagine buying into it now.

Thanks again to WOTC for breaking modern (and now legacy too?)

Took down a local tournament as prep for gp philly and won a volcanic island. Goys and wastelands kick the shit out of eldrazi.

nice! i'm really not sure why there's so much hype over porting eldrazi to legacy. i've been seeing lots of banter about it being the next big thing, but it seems like it folds to an awful lot of common decks. MUD or the other stompy varieties aren't exactly taking over, i guess i don't understand what makes people think the eldrazi variety is overwhelmingly better.

You get to play 16 Ancient Tombs, 4/4 Vendillion Clique, and decent creatures on turn 2-3 as well as Chalice for 1 on turn 1 most of the time. Its testing pretty well, but it does fold if you can answer its action.

After playing Legacy since 2011, I had my first T1 loss. My opponent went Petal, City of Traitors, Blood Moon. I have 0 basics in my deck. Usually I have no problem fighting through a Blood Moon because of Deathrite Shaman, but not if it's dropped on T1. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yeah, Blood Moon is a beautiful, beautiful thing. I've gotten ragequits just from dropping that card T1-T3, especially with strategic landkills to go along with it.

Five years and you've managed to avoid getting blown out by Belcher, Spanish Inquisition, OAS, Tin Fins, and/or Cheeri0s? That pretty much makes you a unicorn. Or your area doesn't consist of soul-sucking assholes like myself .

Turn 1 Blood Moon is easily one of the most satisfying plays in Legacy.

I've never played against any of those decks lol. My local meta is full of Miracles, ANT, Lands and a few Delver decks with people switching to Eldrazi recently. I've been to several larger Legacy events, and the guy who T1 Blood Mooned me was an Imperial Painter player at the Open. It was only the second time I've ever seen the deck lol.

Considering the sheer variety in decks (and the cost of entry for some of them) it's pretty easy to never play against certain deck types in Legacy.

I still find some people who've never played against Death and Taxes, and always have fun explaining how Mangara works to them.

yeah, D&T doesn't seem to exist at my spot outside of one guy that ran a weird blue splash. no countermagic or cantrips or anything, just geist and meddling mage and some sideboard stuff. that was not a fun matchup to try and figure out on the fly. thankfully, there were no mangara/karakas shenanigans, that sounds absolutely terrible.

Shit went back and read through a bunch of different pages of this thread but I couldn't find it. Anyone have a reliable and decently priced source for Japanese or Korean booster boxes? I feel like picking up a box of Battle for Zendikar and playing the expedition land lottery.

Seems like there is enough good eternal format playable cards in the set that the foreign cards will hold some value.

You almost always have to catch the Ebay wholesale stores in the first 3-4 weeks to get them at $99 or less.

    Ebay listings for +100:

Thanks Weltall. I have a friend in China maybe I can get him to pick up a box and mail it to me if that would save some cash. Are Chinese cards as good as Korean and Japanese cards value wise?

Also would you guys grab a box of Battle For Zendikar foreign or Oath of the Gatewatch? To me it seems like Oath has more cards being played in eternal formats though that could be short lived if they gut Eldrazi in modern.
