I got 1x Westvale Abbey in all 3 prereleases I played in. That card is freaking legit.

At my pre-release we kept having issues with people demanding that the flipped side comes into play tapped and would refuse to accept it doesn't even after reading the card. I had one opponent get a massive attitude because of that to the point where the judge almost Dq'd him.
0-2 x2, but I pulled an Avacyn, Westvale Abbey, Thing in the Ice and foil Nahiri so I guess I made up for the fact I fucking suck at Magic with some degree of luck.
4-0 in 2 prereleases, opened exactly dick, AKA a promo UB dual and a Thing in the Ice.
So, there are provincials coming up here in a few weeks and I just wanted peoples opinions/suggestions on my Infect deck. There both a standard and modern event and i'll be making a deck for both but I have more confidence/interest in my Infect deck.
Creatures:
4x Glistener Elf
4x Blighted Agent
4x Noble Hierarch
2x Virdian Corrupter
2x Spellskite
Spells:
4x Mutagenic Growth
3x Groundswell
4x Vines of the Vastwood
2x Might of old Krosa
2x Gitaxian Probe
2x Pact of Negation
2x Become Immense
2x Serum Visions
2x Apostle's Blessings
And then basic land stuff.
Infect can suck one.
Don't hate cause infect is awesome.
Fuck infect
Ya'll are haters
Enjoy always being runner-up, sucker!
throw those modern cards in the trash and get some berserks/force/daze/brainstorm/trops
Motherfucker got married, he ain't got that kinda of skrilla for Magic no more if he wants to retain ownership of his testicles.
you just have to frame it as investing in reserve list staples that are guaranteed to go up in value forever no matter what. it would be stupid not to buy in!
Hmm I wish I had Berserks and Noble Hierarchs. Then I could build infect. I have everything else. I should cash in my extra Inkmoth Nexus's I think I have 6 or 8 extra.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Berserk showed up in EM.
So, more fucking stories on how fucking shitty the players are in my city.
SGC provincials today for Modern. I'm 4/1 going into round 6. I'm golden for top 8 at this point. Super excited, infect is doing great.
Shuffle my deck, present it to my opponent to cut. He calls a judge and accuses me of stacking my deck. Claims that my foils are bent so i can stack my deck. Judges take my deck and examine it for 15 minutes. Keep in mind, I love foils, my deck is 70% foils. So with that many foils its not exactly easy to cheat or stack.
Judges come back. picked out 4 foils and tell me that I need to replace them within 5 minutes or I'm Dq'd for cheating. Now i'm in a massive panic to replace. Managed to get them replaced with 30 seconds left on the clock. Judges approve, hand me my deck back. My opponent looks at the judge and says "So he gets a game loss?".
I'm seething fucking red at this point. He cuts my deck and starts to call out the top card as foil and tries to claim again that I'm stacking my deck. This went on for another 10 minutes while he tried to repick the cards to prove I was stacking. Finally, the judges say I'm good.
I'M 25 MINUTES INTO THE FUCKING ROUND AT THIS POINT. Anytime I search and shuffle my deck he again does that "Thats a foil" shit. I'm so mad that I just fucking tilt and lose. He was affinity too. If I wasn't so pissed off I would have won.
Fuck, I am so mad. This was the first time I even had a chance at top 8 for anything that mattered.
That's exactly why I hate foils. Sorry that happened to you, man. Affinity is a good matchup for Infect, too. :/
I sincerely hope that when you say that you tilted you mean you tilted the entire goddamn table onto your opponent.
I don't put anything past anyone when about a year ago at states dude pocketed another dudes 3 cards, pile shuffled his deck, and attempted to get a match win for his opponent presenting an illegal deck. People are shady as fuck and I try to keep things as straight forward as possible. No foils unless necessary, no alters, fresh sleeves for every major tourney.
I'm a pretty bad bling whore but sleeving up foils is a risky business just because of cunts antics like that. A good way to mitigate potential, and inevitable depending on your humidity, bending is storing them with those desiccant packets from jerky bags etc. and double sleeving.
In other news, Wizards has managed to chew off another arm by with their announcement of cutting PT Platinum benefits by over 90%. Platinum grinders are fervently pissed and SCG/CFB staff are handpumping like mad.
http://magic.wizards.com/en/events/c...soi-2016-04-24Starting with the 2016–17 Premier Play season, which begins after the conclusion of Pro Tour Eldritch Moon, appearance fees for players with Platinum status in the Pro Tour Players Club will be decreased.
The adjustments to the Platinum pro player appearance fees, effective after the conclusion of Pro Tour Eldritch Moon, are as follows:
Platinum pros will receive an appearance fee of $250 for competing at Pro Tours (previously $3,000), an appearance fee of $250 for competing at the World Magic Cup (previously $1,000), and an appearance fee of $250 for competing at a World Magic Cup Qualifier (previously $500).
All other Pro Tour Players Club benefits remain unchanged.
These decisions were not made lightly, and were finalized only after much discussion about the goals of the Pro Tour Players Club. The appearance fees we awarded for Platinum pros were meant to assist in maintaining the professional Magic player’s lifestyle; upon scrupulous evaluation, we believe that the program is not succeeding at this goal, and have made the decision to decrease appearance fees.
Instead, we will be increasing the amount of prize money awarded at our biggest tournament of the year: The World Championship.
