I usually only play magic for like 6 or so months every few years, but I generally hold onto almost all my cards.

Assuming stuff doesn't get banned and lose value, I like holding on to them for prospective emergency funds. Same story with alot of vintage comics and stuff.

Oh man I remember rocking a Battle of Wits deck while it was in Standard. Basically a 5 color Good Stuff with a dozen wincons, cantrips/filters galore, and the occasional BoW throwdown. Just impossible to shuffle well with the time limit.

If you're willing to deal with mailing then consider getting quotes from Starcity, Abu, and Troll & Toad for your money cards. At worst you can show your locals the offers to keep them competitive on their prices.

Although honestly unless you're in dire need of money or you have no way to store your collection I'd recommend hanging onto them for a long while. Legacy cards especially retain and build value very well.

I mean, I found a sealed From the Vaults: Relics under my bed a few days ago that I bought at release for 30 bucks. It sells for 180-200 very easily now and all it did was collect mothballs.

Was it Andrew Stokinger? I've seen him at several tournaments playing BoW in the northeast.

Was it really necessary to construct Eternal Masters as a draft set?

It'll be nice to buy a box of it and open shit while the people beside me open super money cards. Looking forward to that

Well that's nice, I still use some proxy Karakas in a legacy deck I keep around (Death and Taxes) so taking the price down a bit will be fantastic.

Pick them up soon if MM is any indication I am guessing at Mythic Karakas will see a slight dip in value right now after the announcement then possibly another dip right before during the release of the set then it will go up again to current value or higher later on.

BTW is anyone pre-ordering EM? Preorders are up and I believe you can get boxes at about $300 currently up from $270 a few days ago when I checked. I am still on the fence about it.

I'm torn about buying a box. I'll probably see how the first few sealed and drafts go and decide then.

No money atm. Just bought a new guitar and now need to save for trip to Vegas in July.

I got a box for $225 from my LGS. Not sure if I should crack it or sit on it.

For $300 you will likely be able to buy 4 Force 4 Waste, so no.

i was originally planning on having my friend in japan grab a box for me, but i'm now stuck replacing a dead car so my fun money budget is pretty much nonexistent at the moment. there's nothing in EMA that i particularly need anyway since my legacy deck is pretty much complete, so any quality pulls would just be trade fodder.

I just got a really nice haul of cards in Tokyo. I'll post a spread pic when I'm back in the States next week. I picked up most of them in Hareruya (Saito's store).

If you don't have your full set of shocks, I would advise getting them now if the rumor turns out to be true.

Before EMA is fully spoiled, Wizards is going to announce a new format. I think it has been narrowed down to one of the two:

    1. Legacy minus Reserved List
    2. Tempest to SOI

Either will make shocks the go-to, required lands.

legacy minus the reserved list is probably the dumbest format idea i've ever heard of, so it sounds like exactly the kind of thing WotC would push

The guy who spoiled it is the same exact person who spoiled Eternal Masters long before it was announced. He has been off a few times on things, but mostly right.
