Legacy without the reserve list would be so similar to modern I don't even see the point.
Legacy without the reserve list would be so similar to modern I don't even see the point.
legacy minus reserve list would put burn at tier infinity when everyone else is shocking their lands into play
not to mention how many classic legacy archetypes get seriously crippled or outright killed without their RL cards. infect, lands, pox, jund, enchantress, dredge, elves, storm... and my own personal gripe, having to play shocks and then cast reanimate, fuuuuck that.
wasteland and other forms of cheap land destruction is so much better versus shocklands
what a stupid, stupid idea
I don't like it either, just the messenger![]()
Might as well pick up shocks while they are cheap though, just in case.
Welp, looks like it was dispelled!

Lol Ive had a playset of every shockland sitting in my tcgplayer cart for the past few days. Guess I can finally empty it.
Full spoiler is out. Lots of rarity changes and lots of things that needed to be reprinted aren't.

Sphinx of the Steel Wind at Mythic fucking LOL. Anyone paying a dime over $220-230 for a box of this is making a big mistake. Take the current $330 price tag and just buy a lot of the good cards...
The best thing from this set is the cards that got rarity shifted down. Elvish Vanguard going from Rare to Common is crazy. Then there's the ones that went up in rarity just because of limited.
I agree 100% with Welt, this set isn't worth buying boxes. Unless you get money rares or first time foils, you're getting shit for your money. So just buy singles instead.
Even $200 is a huge ripoff. Boxes of this have far less than a normal box, right? You are going to be able to pickup Wasteland for 4/$100 after it has been out for 2 weeks. I've already seen original art ones for 4/$150. A set of FoW already hit $220 and the set isn't even out yet.
You could buy a box of this or get 4 Force 4 Wasteland. You won't come close to that value buying a box and opening random cards, unless you spike a Japanese Foil Force of Will.
Also, if you are buying a box regardless, you should ABSOLUTELY buy Japanese or Russian. Any cards that didn't previously have foreign foils, like Karakas/Force of Will/Baelful will be valued a fuck ton higher than English versions.
What effect do you think this will have on the price of JTMS and Karakas? Those are the main two cards I want/need for legacy.
Initially, a small price dip, but then I actually expect Jace to go back to normal or even up because:
1. The price per pack is getting way too high on EMA
2. Box prices see above
3. If it actually succeeds in making Legacy popular, more people are going to be buying up Jace, driving the price up.
Karakas is a hard one to judge.
Agree with welt. Prices on the mythics will take a small dip but normalize eventually. The print run is really small on ema.
I cant find the exact post, but I remember reading that the number of fows being added by ema is actually less than the number of fows in alliances.
Karakas isn't as widely popular as Jace is. I'd imagine it'll still be a net drop in price down the road.
D & T uses 4 Karakas, not sure of any other "real" Legacy decks that would make use of more then 1 or 2
yeah, tons of decks run 1-2 in the main/side (basically anything in white or green that runs land tutors), but D&T is the only archetype i can think of that uses the full set.
definitely going to pass on opening anything from this set. might try to snag a set of wastelands and some of the other staple playsets if i can find good deals, but there's not much for me to get excited about here.
No Port? Oh lord.
Its ok, itll be an expedition in Conspiracy: Please Buy More Packs edition in 2 months.
But they just made a Port promo! It can be yours for just $500.
My haul from Saito's shop in Tokyo. Mostly conversions to Japanese that I only had in English, some Hareruya pads/sleeves, and a new deck box:

Very nice! I particularly like the basics. You don't see many people use those.
